Top Spin 2K25 Hands-On Preview: The Great Tennis Sim Returns - IGN

There hasn’t been a new Top Spin in 12 years, but thankfully Top Spin is back with Top Spin 2K25. We played an hour of it and quickly found that while it lacks the top-shelf presentation its predecessors had in previous console generations, it still plays fantastically.

I'm glad there's a chance we might finally see the return of a proper tennis game on console after such a long absence.

Personally I'd rather see them drop licenses though. I don't care about real-life players, venues, tournaments and brands. I'd rather see them just going with fictional locations so you can have far more variety and thus have gorgeous locations to place your courts in, as well as cool colorful fictional characters.

I am excited for another tennis game for sure. Used to love Top Spin. But I have to disagree with you. As a big tennis fan, I want to real life players, venues, and tournaments. But to each their own. Just hope it turns out great.

I have missed Virtua Tennis so much! That game was the best! I would even be happy with backwards compatibility on any of those games.

The gameplay is fantastic. Not sure what can be more important then that?

I like how one of the cons is that it's the only tennis game on the market. What does that have to do with the game?
