Launch the game,
Start a mission and drop
Pop an SOS beacon
Leave alone to your ship
Open the in game map from your ship and select a planet and in a few moments the lobby fills up.
Has worked all 4 times I have tried just note if someone quits it doesn't seem to fill again so hopefully you get a squad that sticks around the first time.
