Making no money on xbox and pc?

rippermcrip830d ago

Not sure why downvotes. This game came out of no where. Microsoft probably pennies for it to be on GP.

So they severely missed out on those sales.

Michiel1989830d ago

I like how you got to that conclusion by making shit up, solid argument.
If they pay pennies why are studios still putting their games on there?

rippermcrip830d ago

@Michiel1989

I hope you didn't take me literal about pennies.

But it is common knowledge that they have to pay more for well know games, franchises, publishers, etc.

This was a game that hardly anyone knew was coming. It had zero expectations. It is in beta.

No way MS paid a lot for it.

theindiearmy830d ago

@rippermcrip you seem to be implying that it was a lump sum deal. Do you have a source confirming that is was one and wasn't a usage deal?

Profchaos830d ago

Yeah they took a little known in development game so you would expect they only paid a fraction of the typical cost of something like rdr2

rippermcrip829d ago

@theindiearmy

No I have no source, I call it common sense. The developer has joked about going bankrupt, complained about their server costs and have now said they have a severe lack of staff.

You think they have good money coming in from MS? Riiiiiiight.

PhillyDonJawn829d ago

The down votes are cause the game actually sold well and made money

NotoriousWhiz829d ago

Here's some common sense. There's a reason their talk about going bankrupt was "a joke".

rippermcrip829d ago

We're literally talking about non-Steam sales and you guys argue that they are making money from the Microsoft deal because of excellent Steam sales? Great logic.

They spent something like half a million per month on server fees and network redundancy because they have a zero tolerance outage policy so sounds like they didn't scale things out correctly.

Take out those fees thet probably are making nothing after paying staff and IT exo
expenses

franwex830d ago

Just as some studios are in excess of people, other studios need people. The way of life.

Barlos830d ago

And Xbox is severely lacking fans.

Sgt_Slaughter830d ago (Edited 830d ago )

This is their make-or-break moment.

It was simpler when they were copying/taking concepts, designs, and gameplay elements, but now you actually have to support the title and innovate to keep people playing. It'll lose a good number of players anyway (every recent "overnight" success has the same thing happen, it's the way things work), but it has a chance to sustain with original and attention grabbing development.

Pokemon has been copy pasting itself since the beginning of time and does just fine.

Killa78829d ago

They took Msoft money to be on Gamepass, but then left their users high and dry?
