As I guy who's played every MG game and have marveled at how each game pushes past the previous one and even past it's contemporaries, I HOPE Killzone 2 surpasses it.

But as for making comparisons, I'll have to wait until the demo or the full game.

Well I rate games on simply more than their graphical prowess. But the genres/styles are so different I'm not even going to entertain the idea of which is better.

From the title you assume that KZ2>MGS4 as a game not just graphics. Graphics ofcourse are better on KZ2 but the game we'll see. MGS4 wasn't as good as 3 but is still better than 95% of games out this gen.

is better than killzone 2 mainly becuse of story. killzone story wont be as big as in mgs4, and the gameplay in mgs4 was so awesome...

Everyone is good at judging games before they come out. 6 months later everyone will be saying Killzone 2 is not that good just like GTA4.

I HIGHLY doubt Killzone2 will do as well as MGS4 did (review-wise). I mean MGS4 got perfect 10/10s on so many websites and magazines that it's hard to count.

Killzone2 will still be a great game but it's probably going to get scores in the 9/10 and 4/5 range. How do I know this?

well technically killzone2 is hands down the most amazing console game to date. in other aspects however (storyline, voice-acting, etc.) it still lags a bit. MGS4 on the other hand had top of the line graphics, sound, etc. AND top-notch storytelling, voice-acting, etc.

and more importantly, there is just so much competition in the FPS market that it's going to be really hard to stand out. I mean MGS4's main competition was...splinter cell....Killzone2 however is going up against Halo, Call of Duty, Far Cry, Half Life, Crysis, etc.

Obviously I still hope Killzone2 does well (commercially and critically) but there's going to be a long, hard road ahead.

Both are crap now lets move along.

Personally I believe that Killzone 2 has the better graphics, but MGS4 may have better art direction, it's a matter of opinion. I will be able to compare when i have KZ2 running on my PS3, until then I can't say.

but i own mgs4 (a friend said i will regret it) well, its just a bunch of sneaking around,..and you really dont shoot (well you can,. but you arent suppose to) i guess it just didnt catch my interest..and the cutscenes also made it boring for me...i know i will get hella disagrees but i perfer gta4 over mgs4..back to topic, we will have to see how K2 ends up next month...i wasnt in the beta, but from the videos i seen, its shaping up real nice

edit: to earn the big boss medal/achievement you have to get less alerts, correct? this is more of a stealth game, what i meant was you can shoot, but you arent suppose to, meaning i have to sneak around a lot,. of course i get to shoot at the boss fights, but thats about it..

edit2: ok you played vice city and SA, correct? weren't those drive here, shoot him? i mean what could you expect from R* to make it different? if it wasnt for that, it would not make a GTA game...and the mechanics were superb..maybe the aiming had an issue,. but i got used to it..,.and isnt MGS4 the same? get on you homepad, watch sunny cook eggs, land on a island, sneak around, then kill a boss? at least with GTA there was a variety of missions (the bank job being the best, then funeral)..MGS4 had some great missions too, but it just didnt appeal to me..either way both games deserve a ten in their own way since they are in different genres..

Hmmmm..... That was a pretty interesting article, but when it comes to storyline, I think that MGS4 will be one step ahead of Killzone 2 though... but then again, I haven't played KZ2 yet, so I don't know how good the story actually is.

The fact that Kojima said that they were pushing the PS3 almost as far as it can go, only for another PS3 game to push the envelope even more is pretty awesome though.

I don't think it's really safe to say that KZ2 is better than MGS4 just because of technical and graphical aspects alone because both games are entirely different genres and both games have different types of gameplay. But I do think it's safe to say that Killzone 2 is BETTER than Resistance 2 (obviously).

I prefer MGS4 and I don't think Killzone 2 will change my mind. I still love previous games as one of the best ever despite newly released titles.
Killzone 2 is amazing technically and seems to be freakin fun, but hours of great motion capture, great music score, variety in gaming style and high res char models will top any fps shooter now and in next few years in my personal opinion.
But hey, I'm one of those who prefer story over killing.

gt5 will be great.heavy rain will be great.god of war3 will be great.the list continues.

I agree with what the others have stated in that these are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES.

MGS4 is a masterpiece but it is NOT a FPS Killzone 2 is.

It would be more of a fair comparison to state that Killzone 2s incredible graphics make Halo3s graphics look like Halo2.5 in HD.

Both games are technically impressive, but is hard to compare when first of all most of us here haven't play K2 yet and second, the games has totally different art direction and totally different engines.

yeah killzone 2 does exceed mgs4 in a technical standpoint... but no sh1t but thats not what counts in a video game. when i get killzone 2 and beat it... if sev turns out to die at the end.. i could care less, I Highly doubt this game is going to make me feel tons of emotions like mgs did and it shouldnt its an FPS and as far as gameplay wise mgs4 still wins hands down there is so much involved in the world of metal gear in terms of story and gameplay that u simply just cant ignore, if someone comes up to me and tells me.. u can only pick one game to be developed between mgs4 or killzone 2.... sorry GG, i'll side with Kojima and his masterpiece. dont get me wrong my antipation for killzone is just as much as it was for mgs4 but to say killzone 2 is a better game than mgs4, very misleading title Metal gear solid for me will be the greatest game of all time

MGS4 disappointed me, personally; it was great fun, I'm playing it right now actually, but I expected SO MUCH MORE!!!

They don't have 10 percent of the extras I figured they'd have-

-camos
-other playable characters
-unique weapons

Loading screens and installs were a bich and the flame effects should have been scrapped altogether.

I thought you'd be able to disable those Gekko in more interesting ways as well, and the whole "faction" thing didn't seem to pan out at all. Thought you'd be able to hold up guys, knock em out and then take their disguise and infiltrate that way, but nope...

I find it interesting when you're left with comparing 2 titles from the same console. What's next, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 comparisons? PS3 owners (and soon to be owners) should rejoice. The excellent gaming library is expanding. I can see GG (and other) developers sharing their secrets to success (PS3 development wise) with big name developers come GDC 09. Brace yourselves and save your money because here comes the games.

The only game better than mgs4 is mgs2. I`m still waiting for a game to top that but nothing so far. MGS4 is the best game i played this gen, though. And i played a lot of games.

Why not compare them. From a technical stand point. I mean, you'd do something like A pushes more polys, B uses more particles. AI in A does this. Physics in B is that. It does say nothing about the gameplay implementation of either one. Its more like a geek approach to the games. Nothing to get worked up about. Some things can't just be compared from a technical standpoint without taking some design decisions into consideration. But in that context, I think it is an interesting subject. At least from an engineering POV.

I need to see KZ2 personally. I think it has surpassed MGS4. Well, its out later, knowledge has evolved. Design decisions might have been different to begin with. MGS4 is the best visual experience on the PS3 right now (I think better then UC simply because of scope, resolution and sharpness of the engine). The KZ2 videos and reactions of people who got their hands on sounds promising to top this achievement.

What's bad about it ? Heck, I hope that both UC2 and GoW3 will both surpass KZ2! But, this just keeps the satisfaction level high. Excitement over the next 6 month until you will be astonished again. The same like before, when UC, MGS4 and R2 released.

IMO killzone 2 is better as im not that much of a fan for MGS i dont like sneaking abuot alot and the cut scenes do my head in yes its a very very well made game and deserves its credit but its just not my cup of tea i prefer my FPS's thats why killzone 2 is better for me and i cant wait to my hands on it

Erm, I disagree. I don't really give a sh*t whether or not people "disagree" or "agree" with me as this is my opinion, and a sensible one. You have KillZone 2, a classic FPS... of course people are going to prefer this over MGS. Why? Because the majority of people who play FPS don't involve themselves with the plot. In MGS, it requires you to do that and people don't like to think much when they play video games - they just like to run in and shoot the living hell out of things in FPS games.

Not to mention that you're comparing two entirely different games with two entirely different gamestyles. I don't know why people even bother making such comparisons. It doesn't make sense - it's like comparing Christian Bale to Jennifer Love Hewitt. 99% of people who agree that KillZone 2 is better than MGS don't give a sh*t about plot. Not one bit. And that's a promise.

If they're saying that visuals are what defines a video game then I'm sorry... they need to stop writing articles in terms of video game comparison. Resident Evil for the PSX had terrible graphics, but it was still a fun game with a decent plot. Final Fantasy VII was a game with bad graphics, but it still had a fun plot... where did the days of "graphics don't matter" go?

Well the graphics is certainly better, however, I'm a huge MGS fan, so the overall package for me is a big no.

It doesn't even have destructible environments.

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

It’s still got potential for the modern era. The DNA is all there. The install base is there. The interest is there. The time is now.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.

FF13 is top of this list for me. No matter your opinion on it, it being the only numbered offline FF out of all 16 not to be on new consoles is odd. GTA IV would be great too

The only reason my PS3 is still connected is because of the Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm games that I still love to play. I am for remaking or remastering them.

I was never a huge fan of Killzone, but thoroughly enjoy Horizon. Guerrilla are superb developer and easily up there with the best of the best.

Need a killzone 2 remake from the ground up.

Great studio, loved the Killzone series, I wish they would do a remake of the first three games. Horizon is a real step up and truly put Guerrilla Games on the map.

Too bad I never got a chance to play Shellshock: Nam’67 would have loved to try that game out back in the days to see what were their beginnings.

Bring back killzone (maybe in 3rd person perspective)

It would fantastic to see what they could do in Killzone after the lessons learned through Horizon.

Or heck, give us even a short linear FPS from the people who designed Cauldron THETA in the Burning Shores expansion. Even just flying into it (after gliding around and finding its opening amongst the lava and Sunwings perched around it, with other bigger machines just along the path toward it) was an incredible experience.

Forbidden West is awesome, It’s pretty damn big compared to Zero Dawn and it takes a little while to get your skills up and get the equipment you need to fully explore the game (not going to spoil it) but once you do those things and start fighting the big ass machines it really is amazing. Some cool side quests to where you hold the fate of peoples lives by your choice and the cauldrons look amazing. Lots of skills , combos, special moves and add ons for your weapons so you can approach fights many ways. Looking forward to the name game but I wonder how/if Silas will be a part of it or not ? Sad he’s gone.

I'm hyped for whenever Horizon 3 releases but Killzone 1 needs a remake BAD and 2 & 3 need remasters. Criminal those games are stuck on PS3.
