That's pretty good to hear. I swear this developer gets it. They released what's said to be a fantastic game. They didnt release a physical then listened to people who wanted one. No dlc. Man thank you larian

maniacmayhem893d ago

There are some games where DLC is welcomed, this is definitely one of those games

shinoff2183893d ago

I'd rather a finished game just be finished. Especially this day and age with physical releases being screwed around. Wrap the game up and use those resources for the next one or new one.

maniacmayhem893d ago

I don't mind either. But if devs can use the same assets, game engine is already there and with a game as successful and praised as this one, then why not extend the life of the game and add to it, added DLC for this would take months instead of years waiting for a sequel.

As someone that had literally never paid for DLC ever, and I mean ever, as no DLC has ever been worth the price (except for the witcher 3, but I bought the goty edition), I probably would for this game.

I don't know how I feel about this. I would like an expansion, maybe go to Avernus and gain level 13-16 or 13-20 even.

All I know is that personally I want more D&D stories. And again personally, I really am not interested in Divinity which from their commentary I assume is what they want to get back too. I do understand that Divinity is royalty free for them and they might make a lot more money per sale of a self published Divinity game. But Divinity just never grabbed me, I own both the recent games and I didn't finish either, the second one honestly didn't hold my interest even to the second act.

I would really like their next full game to be something like Icewind Dale which was basically just a short village section then the rest of the game was just fighting through a dungeon with minimal story and dialog. I feel like that would be great and actually make the multiplayer viable. The multiplayer in BG3 of course is not that great because you can spend hours just talking to NPC's without combat so it only works in very dedicated groups.

Which isn't to say I wouldn't like a full blown story BG4, but a Icewind Dale style game would make a great interlude that could be made much much faster or even by a small team while the main team worked on BG4.

This is just my opinion.

There's so much they have to do post level 12 spell-wise to reign things in, I feel. It's that power creep that makes it really hard.

Einhander1972893d ago (Edited 893d ago )

I disagree, the balance of D&D is kept in check by the increase in difficulty of the enemies or the quantity in the case of crowd control.

And Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous which I enjoy equally to this game absolutely flaunts "OP" allowing you to be 20'th level and on top of that allows you to literally become a D&D god class character with abilities not normally available to characters yet it's incredibly fun and still extremely challenging especially at higher difficulties. In fact I would say that even with the OP gear and abilities it's far more challenging than BG3 save a few boss fights.

Oooof. I have very little hope for this with how badly they screwed up Season 2. I loved and re-watched the first season of The Las of Us 4-5 times now. Only watched season 2 once and will not be watching Season 3 unless I'm very bored. The fact that Larian isn't involved is also another red flag.

TLOU show creator…oh God

There’s a reason why the show went from “Season 4 and possibly beyond” to “it might end at Season 3”

Daeloki101d ago

I mean regardless of who's making it, there's simply no hope for it.
A) Larian is not involved. This is gonna be pure Hasbro greed.
B) It's a game that largely revolves around player choice, with tons of outcomes and replayability. There is no single canon to translate into a show.
C) It's a high fantasy setting, with spectacular visuals that are going to be very expensive, and also very difficult to get to look actually good in live action.

Only potential they have is if they lean into campiness, make it vibe like old 90's, early 2000's fantasy shows like Xena, Mystic Knights etc. Less epic and more failed skill checks, "wrong" choices.

dmonee101d ago

From what I have read, The Last of Us season 2 woes, was because of Neil Druckman. I have hope for season 3 now that he is out if the equation. I have hope for BG live action show. Its also being worked in by the team that did Chernobyl.

Shaky Relationship meaning Hasbro wanted an even larger cut of the pie moving forward. Also why we're not getting BG4 w/Larian. Hasbro just wanted to bleed them dry.

Michiel1989128d ago

no im pretty sure it was related to the people from hasbro that helped with the game getting fired or that only the people from Larian were eligible for bonusses and Larian didn't fuck with that

Christopher127d ago

The people from Hasbro were fired by Hasbro. Why would non-workers on a game get bonuses for not having worked on the game (meaning anyone at Hasbro)?

repsahj129d ago (Edited 129d ago )

Because they are busy for the next Divinity game on Switch 2. Fine by me because I already have BG3 on my PS5, and believe me or not, I didn't finish it. Considering I bought the Deluxe edition to play it ahead of everyone. XD

gigoran8128d ago

if this were able to run on the switch 2, then theoretically the PS4 pro should be able to as well. can't wait for that port

Neonridr127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

you do realize that in terms of numbers it might be on par with a PS4 Pro. However, GPU wise, it has a much larger feature set available to it. The PS4 Pro couldn't even run FSR natively.

Terry_B127d ago

Yeah..I doubt BG3 would run well on the Switch 2.
