Let's hope gran turismo wins because 1. Its bloody excellent, and 2. All the other racing games released on playstation since haven't even bothered with the format at all when the the technology is there

Personally I voted for re8 but I'd are gt7 was great in VR.

Synapse was also another highlight way to many good choices for VR games this year

Between GT7 and RE8 for me, very hard to pick. I love that RE8 took the next step after RE7 and introduced motion controlled mechanics like the jacket inventory. I hope we get to use Leon's cool leather jacket for the full game in RE4R VR.

Babadook7794d ago (Edited 794d ago )

“- Gran Turismo 7
- Horizon Call of the Mountain
- Humanity
- Resident Evil Village VR Mode
- Synapse
What is striking about this year's selection is that the nominated titles are almost all PSVR 2 exclusives.“

No doubt. That’s how this year felt to me. It’s not even close. PSVR2 is phenomenal so far. GT7 is incredible, but RE8 would be my favourite piece of software this gen so I’d give it to that title.

ApocalypseShadow794d ago

And what's funny is that Sony gets bashed for no VR games to promote some other headsets out there.

But the games listed are exclusives you can't find on any other VR headset. With games like RE4 Remake VR coming right up to add to the list of year one exclusives.

"But but but Sony's not doing enough."

You and I look at the list and it's either Sony made or Sony paid. I suspect that in year two, bigger and better games are going to drop on PS VR 2 to blow games away.

Profchaos794d ago

I think the problem is what's next we have no idea re4 is Sony funded sure but it's still a Capcom project.

So many psvr2 owners like myself are asking where is killzone VR or astrobot

--Onilink--794d ago

Its not doing enough, there is nothing wrong with saying or believing that. Nor is there a need to pretend otherwise.

Just like most people expect a good output of great quality first party games on their PS5 complimented by third party stuff.
PSVR2 owners also expect first party games to be made as well and Sony right now is seriously lacking and their complete silence on what is being developed doesn’t help.

Plague-Doctor27793d ago

Those are the same people who would criticize Sony for putting a first party studio like Naughty Dog or Santa Monica on a VR game as they would be "wasting dev time on niche releases"

GT7 is a blast to play in VR. Playing that inspired me to go back and try GT Sport and Driveclub in VR as well. It pains me that something as well crafted as DC just cant get a proper VR2 update.

mandf794d ago

Are you playing with a wheel too?

darthv72794d ago

^^oh yeah... only I need to get me one of those proper wheel stands. Using a TV tray just doesnt quite brace the pedals like I thought it would. It holds the wheel fine though.

MrNinosan794d ago

I would've replaced Humanity with No Man Sky.

1nsomniac794d ago

Horses for courses. GT7 and RE8 were awesome. The rest were crap!

The difference being that GT7 and RE8 are both standalone games. All the others listed are the reason the industry fails. They’re designed for shallow VR experiences and not made for the sake of stellar gameplay experiences. What makes it actually worse is people giving them a pass as that’s what makes the industry go backwards.

jukins793d ago

Sounds like you dont really have vr if the the games listed are "shallow experiences".

1nsomniac793d ago (Edited 793d ago )

I have an Oculas Go, PSVR 1 and PSVR 2. What I’m sayings not difficult to understand. Standalone games are built as just games first and foremost then VR is an extension of that. The problem is those other games are built as “vr experiences” first. Gameplay is secondary to that. For example horizon being a climbing simulator, or Humanity just being a crap game. Synapse being the usual, shoot, duck, move to next cover location formula. There not in the same league as the “proper games” because that’s not their primary function. They’re much closer to the mobile gaming industry in that they’re catering for a shallower gameplay experience.

Like I said, Sony is ahead of the VR game. There's going to be some lucky gamers 50 years from now.

darthv72794d ago (Edited 794d ago )

...in 50 years time, I imagine the kids of that generation will look at the games we play today like the current generation kids look at Atari 2600. They see it, but have no real connection to it. not like their grandparents did. And there likely wont be any console war crap so everything is all peace and harmony and people playing Call of Duty LIII (53)

anast794d ago

VR gaming will be insane. Their probably wont be console wars because everyone will be playing Nintendo VR, Sony VR, and/or PC VR. There will still be console vs PC stuff, people need the antagonism.

Profchaos793d ago (Edited 793d ago )

I'm not convinced good games can be good games forever I've introduced the younger generation to the NES via Mario 3 and in co op it's been an absolute blast. And were talking kids that are close to 40 years removed from the console launch.

And also funny that kids see Mario and sonic as best buds these days being in the same games with no concept of console wars and mascot games of the 90s

CrimsonWing69794d ago

I voted RE Village since that was a game changer in VR for me. Cannot wait for RE4 VR

gold_drake794d ago

psvr 2 is amazing.
gt7 is amazing with it and resi 8 and resi 4 are TERRIFYING with it haha

Can’t wait, especially now that I’ve learned that Ace Combat8 will not have any kind of vr component.

Wasn’t really keeping up with Aces because it was all multiplayer, I guess this will have to do
