Capcom is developing an upgraded version of its RE Engine for future games, aiming for a more capable and efficient engine. The next-gen RE Engine, codenamed REX, will address issues found during operation and offer customization per game and better asset handling.
The REX Engine will include previous features while supporting new technologies and will be introduced in phases rather than building a new engine.

"These changes are driven by organisational and strategic priorities, not individual performance," says mobile developer

Nacon: "We are choosing to focus our resources on upcoming releases and the development of our current games"

Studio says it needs to "align with business realities where needed in order to stay focused on [its] creative goals"
One of the best proprietary engines available.
Thank god Capcom believed on their own prowess and didn't just jump on the UE5 bandwagon.
Although RE4Remake looks spectacular... I just wish they could've chosen RE4Remake as Capcom's first REX title.
No doubt we'll see that debut with RE9 in, likely, spring 2026. I reckon it's probably being built together, and just starting production.
Which means they gotta have something else final on the old RE engine that's already fairly decently done to bridge the 3 year release gap. Something late next year I reckon. Doubt RE5. Spinoff. Rev3 or maybe, just maybe, a quick cheeky lil Code Veronica. Maybe.
great news RE engine is already sick
If its for better is gonna be welcomed however it still one of the top engines around
Wish my laptop could run it, lol. Tried the RE2 Remake and it ran like 5fps on medium settings, lol. I do all my gaming on my laptop so that's kind of a hindrance.
