There Will Be No ‘Redfall’ Redemption Arc For Xbox

There’s some talk about whether Xbox’s Redfall may follow this same path. Redfall was indeed very much meant to be a live co-op game with future missions and characters and so forth.

darthv72933d ago

They still have two more characters planned as well as additional content and fixes. Even if its to save face, they will deliver.

What happens after that... time will tell.

-Foxtrot933d ago

These “redemption” arcs are always silly to me, you’re praising developers for updating their shitty games they purposely put out at launch knowing full well of their issues because they know if they don’t update it and fix the issues it will impact sales for the next game

It’s admirable but still not something people should let become the norm as developers will think it’s alright

“Ah f*** it, let’s release it, we’ll survive the rough launch but after a couple of years we’ll get our redemption story because anything will look better than what it does now at launch in comparison, it’s an automatic given”

Profchaos933d ago

I like that we are getting games fixed eventually even if it wasn't launch worthy but it's becoming far to frequent and these redemption arc stories are getting old bats like you said it's a case of them finally doing the job for the product they sold as a year back.

More often than not for every cyberpunk there's 10 anthems things that will forever be bad.

The industry seems to have forgotten launch a bad game it'll be bad forever that's been replaced by patch a bad game with some pr speak and keep our shareholders happy and the devs working stuff the consumer

NotoriousWhiz933d ago

A bad game being bad forever was before we had online consoles. Now bad games may only be bad temporarily. And unfortunately, some good games are also only good temporarily.

FinalFantasyFanatic932d ago

People just need to stop pre-ordering, if a game is bad, or runs like garbage, don't buy it, you don't need most games on release day.

Futureshark933d ago

Already consigned to the bin of mediocrity, also know as... Gamepass!!!

Profchaos933d ago

Think more anthem not cyberpunk there no reason for them to put in the effort Bethesda have other games to replace it such as starfeild where as cdpr had nothing for a minimum of 5 to 10 years they had to fix it

At least not one anyone will notice. You know, because no one plays it.

Concord, Suicide Squad, Fairgame$ And ‘Vibes-Based’ Failures

Paul Tassi: "Sony recently reiterated its commitment to live service games with one big hit last year (Helldivers 2), one big cancellation (The Last of Us Factions) and one big failure (Concord). It’s no great surprise it is continuing down this road, given the way the industry is trending and the limited shelf life of its famed single player games. But it immediately made me think of a game that Sony is allegedly releasing that I have to believe is pre-destined to fail, Fairgame$."

Alos88496d ago

Fairgame$ feels like it's destined to flop out the gate- that initial trailer felt full of that same instantly-dated 'fight The Man with a ragtag team of weirdos' energy that was prevalent in Sega's Hyenas (which they wisely cancelled.) Unlike Marathon I just don't see this standing a chance.

Nacho_Z496d ago

It will definitely flop, missed the boat by a couple of years. Agreed that Marathon has a decent chance of succeeding it looks genuinely good and interesting.

It can't be sustainable having all these expensive GaaS being DOA being balanced by the odd modest success like Helldivers. The aim is to find the new Fortnite or whatever but it's highly unlikely and seems to be a massive waste of money.

Concord and the Other Biggest Flops of This Generation

Some of the biggest success stories in the history of gaming have happened during this generation of gaming. At the same time, some of the biggest flops in the history of gaming have also happened during this generation of gaming. To this end, a few games particularly stick out as, unfortunately, disastrous flops for those who made the games, sold the games, and ultimately, for many that played the games.

What a strange, short list. There have been many more games that arrived DOA, were never released, didn’t make their budget back, etc. Why cherry pick these games? Is this list based on the size of internet hate boners?

EternalTitan613d ago

These flops have a similarity that you may not be allowed to point out.

Skull and Bones gets my vote, at this point just completely remake AC Black Flag. If the Concord developers had made the game free to play, and toned down the in your face messaging via the mods and design choices, this game could have been serviceable eventually. I never understand why pandering to 5% of your audience and giving the finger to the other 95% seems like a good idea to these people. They never seem to learn. Disney has lost 1/3rd of its value and they keep doubling down on political messaging. I don’t get it.

BlackTar187613d ago

Some of these companies are paid huge amounts of money to do this stuff. They get truck loads of money to give “the message”
By blackrock and vanguards and multiple other venture capitalists even though it’s been proven over and over they fail.

I'm not interested in this game but i think it's great they added the offline mode for those who are.

darthv72712d ago

It was okay at first... once they added the performance update it was definitely better.

TwoPicklesGood713d ago

Bury this turd. It’s only good as a reminder of what devs shouldn’t do.

mkis007712d ago

I hate the concept of an announced final update.
