PS5 - Console Sharing and Offline Play

Find out how you can share the digital games you own with other users on your PS5 console. Activating console sharing and offline play on your PS5 will also allow you to play your digital games when your console is offline

Puty958d ago

So now you need to switch it on compared to previous gens? Why are we going backwards?

S2Killinit958d ago

Do they have even this ability on xbox?

Petebloodyonion958d ago

Been there since 360, you can also share your Gamepass subscription and online play capability,
And you can swap your home console 5 times per year

DankSinatra958d ago

Lmao they do and its been a thing for over a decade. It's funny that when its pointed out that playstation has a flaw the response is "bbbbbut, can xbox do this?".

Seriously guys Sony and the playstation brand isn't some flawless entity. They have plenty of things that suck and have nothing to do with other companies.

MrNinosan957d ago

@Pegebloodyonion
Don't present it like it should be better on Xbox than Playstation.

On Playstation, you can change Home Console unlimited times, and also add more home consoles cross gen.

I can have a Primary PS3, PS4, PSVita and PS5 and share all of those with different people, accounts, snd play on the all at the same time.

Xbox is limited to one console across all gens.

And pretty dure game sharing wasn't a thing on X360, but came on Xbox One.

@DankSinatra
It was a simple question. What I remember was that MS pulled back some feature related to family sharing some time ago and it really irked people, but couldnt remember what it was. Thus my question. That’s all.

Petebloodyonion957d ago (Edited 957d ago )

@Mr Ninosan
I don't know why you are so defensive when I just answered a question with the how-to from MS.

The video is about sharing your library with other users' accounts on a console not playing the same account on numerous devices at the same time. So yeah that's possible on an Xbox 360 as long as the game licenses are tied to that console. If the case you don't need to log online and all users can access the game if installed.

What you could not do on 360 was use Xbox live gold with a secondary account (PSN was free for online play on PS3)

Awesome feature, have been doing this the whole gen, basically paying 50% for all games day one when split with my brother.

northpaws958d ago

My bad, this is not related to the family sharing thing.

bradfh957d ago

I been doing this since ps4 first came out.

Cacabunga958d ago (Edited 958d ago )

Does anyone know if the PS+ account must be active on the ps5 before the sharing is allowed? On ps4 it’s not possible.. if you have 2ps4 and profile is activated on one of them the other users of the second ps4 cannot play online because it’ that ps4 is a secondary console.. i hope they fixed this..

mandf958d ago

For the disagree it doesn't need ps plu for sharing

DickyD1226957d ago

What do you mean you can't play online? I game shared with my sister (managed GameStop and got most new releases for free.) I could play online on my personal account. And she didn't have to buy plus because I had it.

mandf957d ago

I'm saying don't need ps plus to game share

Cacabunga957d ago

I’m asking about secondary console, not primary.. if ps+ is not activated, other users cannot game share on ps4

Flakegriffin957d ago

@cacabunga

That’s incorrect.

MrNinosan958d ago

Many of us have done this for 17 years (since PS3).
But I guess a reminder is good for the few who doesn't knew about it.

ocelot07958d ago

I remember back on PS3 you where allowed to share with 4 or 5 friends. But obviously people just abused it. Buying a game selling access to the account on eBay making the money back + more. Making the game free and some extra cash.

MrNinosan958d ago

Yeah.
PS3 allowed console sharing between 5 accounts in total, but as you say, it got abused, massively.

TheColbertinator958d ago

I stopped using it when my friend let his friend borrow it and his console died. Locked my account out of sharing afterward. Bummer.

MrNinosan957d ago

Could just go to Sony homepage and release all the consoles 😏

Eonjay957d ago

You can do this online by logging into your account with your user and password.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.

What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.

We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
