This is all I wanted

Perfect

raWfodog855d ago

Looking forward to playing the next chapter in the story. Traversal and fighting looks smooth and fluid as usual.

ClayRules2012855d ago

Really?

Spider-Man 2’s all you wanted from that state of play, Fox?

I was amazed again by Spidey 2 & Insomniac’s continued progress with the game (looking better and better certainly shows) I can’t wait for the game!!!

With that said, there were certainly other titles in the indie/third party department of games I was hoping would be shown off.

A missed opportunity, again, by Sony, I do believe.

neutralgamer1992855d ago

While you are right Sony is always upfront with what they will show. Also missed opportunity or not PlayStation is selling like hot cakes

-Foxtrot855d ago

No. It was a reference to a previous article where I wanted more info on Spiderman 2 and everyone was like "Nah, we've seen enough we don't need it"

Yet...we got it and it was spectacular.

Yes, PlayStation 5 is a big seller and no doubt will become an even bigger seller when Spider-Man 2 comes out!

Sony knows gamers will buy their console for a multitude of reasons (biggest being they have games and more exclusives to come!) it’s just a shame that the last 2 showing by Sony during their own shows have been disappointing and as I said a missed opportunity to really let games know/reinforce to us that the games are coming…ya know? Like “HERE’s some new IP’s from our talented studios that we believe will continue to push the envelope for great and immersive SP games” blah blah lol.

northpaws855d ago

I feel like they are doing that on purpose, so close to Spiderman 2 now, no need to show anything that might steals it's spotlight.

The new showcase after Spiderman 2 would be the interesting one.

Rimeskeem854d ago

Is it possible that people who buy PS consoles know that Sony doesn't have to make a banger announcement every time?

We don't need to see the sun rise every day to know it will happen tomorrow.

S2Killinit854d ago

You dont think Spiderman, and Helldivers are reason enough?

@northpaws

Yeah, I understand why they showed Spider-Man 2, makes sense. Along with info coming out tomorrow by YouTubers who’ve played the game. I assume gameplay will follow with those impressions they give? I don’t know for sure.

It’s just annoying that the past 3 showings Sony has had has been really underwhelming. But yes, their next showcase etc will be interesting. Hopefully it’ll bring a bundle of great new and exciting IP’s to show off/along with others we got trailers for, such as Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade etc.

BehindTheRows854d ago

Hardly anyone could be underwhelmed with this latest SOP given we knew nothing about it until the past week, and they told us it would mainly be a 3rd Party showing.

ClayRules2012854d ago

Being that we’ve seen gameplay of both Spider-Man 2 and Helldivers, both of which I’ll be getting, no that was not enough.

S2Killinit854d ago (Edited 854d ago )

I guess. But they did mention that this was going to be 3rd party focused. But had we already seen helldivers? Because i remember little snippets but not actual gameplay. Unless I missed something?

Looking good. I assume these 30fps trailers are all to showcase the quality mode and that there will be a 60fps performance mode as well. Just a little over a month to go.

Eonjay855d ago

Insomniac also was the first major studio to embrace the 40FPS option so expect that as well.

Tacoboto855d ago

Sony very rarely showcases a 60fps mode, but they're always there, along with that 40fps mode Eonjay mentioned.

Since they rolled out VRR I think every game with a 30fps mode has a 40fps mode too, with one exception to TLOU Part 1 that launched with it, then removed it in a post-release patch since it barely hit 40

darthv72854d ago (Edited 854d ago )

I figured they always show these in the best possible light. I just checked shinobi for all the details:

Viljong854d ago

40fps@120hz is really good with modern low input lagg amd freesync tvs, too bad sony cheaped out the ps5 hdmi port so the it doesnt support HDR, 4k, RGB and 120hz with vrr the same time. So picture quality drops to yuv422 instead rgb signal.

Zeke68854d ago

Most of the HDR content nowdays is 4:2:0 even Blu-Rays, 4:4:4 or RGB is mostly used on PC for text clarity, it doesn't change the HDR experience. So you have 4:2:2 on a console and it works flawlessy even if I play a game in 4K, RGB/HDR in 120Hz/VRR ,with my Sony 75" TV it's not a problem whatsoever to be honest.
And speaking of picture quality, if the game is made with great graphics, the TV show a perfect picture even in 120Hz.
Seems like you need a new TV or maybe you just don't know what you're talking about??

mandf854d ago

What are you smoking hdmi 2.1 is the newest hdmi version available.

ClayRules2012855d ago

The game really does keep looking better and better (from the content shown in footage) along with the stunning visuals, my gosh. The lighting, texture work, just the fidelity/colors on display really pop so much, the city to me just feels more alive and natural, in the ways things seem to be happening (from the little I could notice in the footage) to the amount of increased traffic/NPC’s, the flow of the lively environment just looks more organic/natural and believable.

Tacoboto855d ago

The original demo seemed to have a slight one-frame hitch during camera cuts but this looked smooth as could be.

I'm digging how they're giving us an Iron Man-lite experience with the web wings

ClayRules2012854d ago

Yeah, this was silky smooth. Insomniac improving and polishing the game up so so nicely. And what did you think of that almost instant character switch? That was super impressive I thought.

Yeah, the web wings look like they’ll offer tons of throughout our game experience for sure, with how they increase traversal across the city for us, but just the speed increase it provides us etc.

Tacoboto854d ago

When it switched to Spider Peter, seeing him do the crunches reminded me of GTA V and the switch usually lead into the new character doing something casual, without the obvious loading!

I wonder if we'll be able to upgrade the web wings. Faster with web propulsion

ClayRules2012854d ago

It reminded me of GTA5 as well. I’m looking forward to seeing more of that character switching.

Hmmm, I never thought about upgrades to the web wings. Maybe. But I don’t know if speed for example would be an upgrade, considering it already looks fast, and rendering everything as quick as they’ve been able to on the fly is already an achievement in itself. So, I’m not sure how they’d go about upgrades for that. But what do I know. I’m no dev.

Christopher855d ago

Without question, it looks good. I notice they're being very tight-lipped about even showing names of activities in a borough. Must be a lot that's going to happen even early on that they don't want to spoil. Happy to see the possibility of the story taking off quickly rather than taking time to lead into big reveals.

ClayRules2012855d ago

Yeah, I don’t doubt the game will have its slow moments (the carnival/festival story bit) which I assume will allow players to just relax, do some fun things like ride rides maybe, I’m hoping🤣😂 along with playing some games maybe, to just flesh out the characters more, new and old characters/friends catching up etc. who knows what else beyond this.

But yeah, I like how they’re being quiet about a lot and not showing too too much, like with SMS with Ragnarok.

It looks like it’ll be a rollercoaster of a ride, and one we’ll really enjoy.

TheKingKratos855d ago

It always good to play a game for 20 hours before it started to get good .. right?! RIGHT ?!

A noticeable improvement over the Steam Deck, but those reflections are hilarious. You're definitely paying for better quality with that hefty price tag. I do like that density isn't really affected by quality, though.

darthv7292d ago

For the performance they were going for, increasing the reflections would not have been viable. The deck and rog can certainly be taken further into the quality mode, but obviously performance takes a huge hit..... but it does look good on a little screen.

shadowT92d ago

Yes, it runs somehow in low graphic resolution and with very limited effects. $1000 for this quality?

drivxr92d ago (Edited 92d ago )

Looks impressive for a handheld that lets you play anywhere other than a living room or a desk.

XBManiac92d ago

It works best with Steam OS, so don't despair.
