Who cares about killzone? Not Microsoft thats for sure, they are not a small independent company that is living by pay check to pay check. One game (that has take 3 1/2 years to write so yeah, it looks great <too human WTF>) is not going to be a nail in Microsofts coffin.

why would microsoft care? hell even micro knows sony WILL NOT advertise this game anyways, which will lead to dismal sells when it launches. only europe will be able to save this game...just like they saved resistance 2. actually this will be the same as resistance 2 when it launches, only difference between the 2 i see, is that killzone 2 should get higher reviews....but hell LBP was sluggish with perfect scores as well. people that don't keep up with this sh1t will see "killzone" and remember the mess that was killzone 1. sony needs to advertise it, with what i think will be great review scores...or this game will dissapoint them with the sells- and again it will be SONY'S FAULT

Killzone 2 will sell well. The game doesn't interest me though. The only game I've really had any interest in playing is LittleBigPlanet. I can't buy the console for 1 game, but there will be other exclusives that will finally sell me on the purchase.

Otherwise I'm still content with my 360.(Wii is collecting dust)

It's not that Microsoft should be afraid of Killzone 2. It's more that Killzone 2 has visuals not to been set on any game in the 360. So if Microsoft can't produce them there's a 100% proof the PS3 is more powerful, not just on paper but now also in a game.

So it's not that Microsoft should be afraid, they just need to pull off a game that matches the visuals of KZ2.. which they haven't shown yet.

back at E3 07, when Microsoft's conference was over. G4 talked to Peter Moore. They asked him if he was concerned about Sony's conference. He just laughed and chuckled a little bit. Then they asked him if he was scared about KZ2. He yet again laughed. He thought KZ2 would never look as good as it did at E3 05 conference. Well, when Sony finally showed off KZ2, I think Peter Moore sh!t his pants. Probably the reason he left Microsoft :) Yeah, Microsoft is pretty scared about KZ2. They try to hide it but, its pretty obvious they are. They're scared because, after people play and see how good KZ2 looks. People will realize how much inferior the 360 really is. Killzone2 will set a new standard for future FPS's to match it. This could be the only concern Microsoft will have because the bar will be ridiculously set high. Since the 360 is a shooters haven i'd expext Microsoft to be worried.

I have a PS3 and really looking forward to Killzone 2 but slightly worried by the videos, ok the graphics are good but the shooting mechanics, Ai and animations just look wrong. The same thing happen with Farcry 2, it just felt crap to play.

to be honest this article has some very good points. MS is worried because the 360 has a huge following of hardcore gamers that love shooters and im sure that this is looking very good to them. Coupled with the fact that MS is also playing the guessing game on when a ps3 price drop will happen. something has them worried and its the fact that the black behemoth has awakened and is flexing the muscle that sony said it would be able do.

But their definitly not comfortable w/ it and how it will instantly show the PS3 can do things the 360 cant. I think MSFT would be more fearful of PS3 dropping price when Killzone2 comes out.

I doubt MS are overly worried. They always have that 900lb Gorilla of their own... Halo.

The 360 brand has grown around a few core franchises. Halo and Gears. They have plenty of other good titles, but in general the 360 will always be definied by those two IP's - sales figures reflect this.

To me, the Playstation brand has always been about variety and innovation; and I think that it reflected in their customer base.

PS2 and PS1 had a lot of consistent sellers across different genres. For example; long before Nintendo was proclaimed king of the casual market, Singstar and Eye Toy were doing raging business alongside hardcore titles like Disgaea, innvoative games like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus and so on.

Few titles on PS3 are going to sell 2million+ titles in the first few days, but many more titles are going to sell well and have a very long tail - which can be conducive to attracting smaller/innovative developers.

I would suggest that MS may be slightly concerned by Sony's position in the market, rather than any one game. Just as Sony may be concerned by their loss of market share to Nintendo and MS.

I dont think for a second they're scared, but it does hightlight one of the things I hate about M$. They're more worried about what others are doing rather than what they're doing. In other words, they'd rather try to convince the competitions customers they're not happy than make their own customers happy.

If the PS3 was cheaper, then maybe. But if I remember correctly, Killzone failed to really be big on the PS2, so I doubt that it's sequel will really move any consoles, especially since that console is the most expensive console out there.

Why do you think the HALO RTS is being released so close in proximity to Killzone 2. It's their marketing ploy. It doesn't matter if the game is good or bad (I don't think the game will be bad necesserly) however their hoping the brand name 'HALO' will over shadow anything coming out.

Microsoft is terrified of Killzone 2, because they know they have nothing available or coming in 2009 that can come close to topping it. Sure, Halo and Gears are good games in their own right, but Killzone 2 is simply on a higher level.

I think as the PS3 continues to mature and we start to see games that have been in the works for a couple of years coming out...the gap in quality between 360 titles and PS3 titles is becoming more and more apparent. You don't see anything like Killzone 2 or Heavy Rain on the 360 - and there doesn't seem to be anything in the works that can, graphically anyway, match these upcoming titles.

Now graphics aren't everything but there's no denying that seeing Killzone 2's footage, Heavy Rain footage and Gran Turismo looking as photo realistic as ever will have a definant impact on people. I remember showing Gran Turismo screenshots to a car enthusiast in my office and he wasn't aware that games were even coming close to approaching those levels. Once ads with these types of games become commonplace on the PS3 but not on the Wii or 360 - public opinion will change.

I'm glad the PS3 library of games is improving. It's not where is should be, but is getting there.

My real only grip with the PS3 is their controllers. Frankly they suck for FPS games. The 360s controller is far superior for FPS games than the PS3. Hopefully Sony will improve theirs.

If the 360 can not process as good as the PS3 in the future( because most games are similar right now), then MS will bring out a console to beat it. It is called competition people.

why would microsoft be scared about a game hype??? were they scared when the mighty Metal Gear Solid 4 was about to be released? Sony makes the BEST EVERYTHING, we don't need any other consoles because the PS3 will be here for the next 30 years, all they have to do is make games for it, we don't need online gaming because PSN is free and you don't need to communicate because all I want to is play games by myself. Sony won't need to release the PS4 until 2040 because nothing can touch the PS3 for the next 30 years. The blu-ray drive in every PS3 is programmed to project HOLOGRAMS that's right HOLOGRAMS in 2020. All sony has to do is throw a switch and then a quick download (which Sony invited and EVERYBODY copied). By the time 2040 gets here every game will be made for the PS3 and we will have tens of thousands of games to play. Future proof baby.

I really don't think Killzone 2 will break history records in sales. I do believe it will sell the most of any of the PS3 exclusives thus far though. There is no doubt in my mind that this game could be the absolute best console FPS to date, but for some reason I believe many people would still buy, say...the Call of Duty or Halo series over Killzone 2. I might be wrong but only time will tell. I still say, regardless of whether or not it sells millions upon millions that it will be the best console FPS in the history of gaming. Just my opinion.

KillZone 2 is a great game, just like God of War 3, Uncharted 2, inFamous, GT5 etc, and look the line up this year for Sony PS3. They don't have any heavy hitter to counter them.

I mean if all these games we mention on 360 and PS3 were muti-platform, they'd sell much better than Alan wake, Halo war, or Forza 3.

Even two of my friends who dislike SONY so much(they only use their PS3 to watch blu-ray), they still pre-order the GOW3, Killzon2, and Uncharted 2. Cause deep down they knew, that these are great games to own and tons fun to play.
