The Embracer Group stated it would be closing studios and canceling games. Due to how bloated Embracer Group is and it’s rather low revenue relative to its size, several more of its studios in addition to Volition will be closed.

Shame to hear bc this was one of my favorite games series

I was more annoyed they didn't want you to create a feminine busty female character and instead let you play as a toilet. That was just one example of their decision making.

Edit: There is also the crap gameplay that needed more time as well.

Should have listened to fans of the series and not cater to the woke mob. And most of this is Embracer's fault buying up studios left right and center without thinking of the future.

When it was first shown in the trailer I knew it was going to be trouble. Oh no...

The fans wanted a saints row 1 and 2 remake or Port. Not the trash they did recently. This is the result.

You gotta be capable of competing if you’re gonna try to charge $60+ for a game.

Striking Distance struggled in the market too, and they got a veteran like Glen Schofield leading them.

It’s not an easy market to break into. I don’t even think Returnal has sold a million copies yet, and that game is fantastic.

This is what can happen when a developer decides that pandering is more important than making a quality game.

Volition did some great content over the years. I’ll never forget how awesome it was to play the original Red Faction on PS2 and experience Geo-mod for the first time.

They should've made a new Red Faction. That game was overdue for a new entry. Now we'll never get a new one.

It's the parent company shutting them down. Shame as they have made great titles. I'm quite enjoying saints row reboot it's a simple game but quite fun only cost me £7 on ps5

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
