Baldur's Gate 3 PS5 Version Gets Preload Dates & Release Times

After the successful release of Baldur's Gate 3 on PC, Larian Studios is preparing to launch on PS5 and revealed the preload dates.

Hofstaderman1007d ago

Going to be my first Baldur’s Gate. Going in blind, just the praise heaped on the game has piqued my interest.

poppatron1006d ago

If you don’t want to go in completely blind gameplay wise pick up divinity original sin 2, it’ll be super cheap and is incredible

Hofstaderman1006d ago

Thanks for the suggestion, will do so.

Babadook71006d ago (Edited 1006d ago )

Release date Sept 6th, Sept 2nd for digital deluxe customers. Preload starts a two days earlier.

vikingland11006d ago

No carry over of progress if you play before Sept 6. But, you could play and learn early. I did buy the digital deluxe edition to play early though lol.

Becuzisaid1006d ago

I've seen nothing saying this regarding the ps5 version. Only early access on PC to the full release version. Could you post where you saw this information?

vikingland11006d ago (Edited 1006d ago )

@Becuzisaid
Can you show me me where it says otherwise? I'm assuming it will work like the PC ,I could be wrong but, I haven't read either way.

Becuzisaid1006d ago

What? You make a declarative statement like that, only to say it's your assumption, then want ME to find something that backs up what I say??

Daeloki1006d ago

You're mixing up the 3 year long early access PC had with the 72h early access PS5 Deluxe version gets.

vikingland11005d ago

Okay I shouldn't have declared it. I should've phrased it as a question or assumption. My bad I still don't know if our saves will carry over for certain.

"I've seen nothing saying this regarding the ps5 version. Only early access on PC to the full release version. Could you post where you saw this information?"

Its confirmed on PSN. The listed release date for the deluxe edition says Sept.2 and if you switch and choose the regular edition the release date changes to Sept 6.

Becuzisaid1006d ago (Edited 1006d ago )

I know that, I've pre-ordered the deluxe version on PSN, it's a 72 hour early start. I was responding to viking with his claim that if you play the game early (meaning 9/2 to 9/5) then your saves won't work once the actual release date is 9/6 hits. Honestly ridiculous claim, that now he says was his assumption bc that's how early access on PC worked before the release of the full game.

victorMaje1006d ago

To digital deluxe or not to digital deluxe, that is the question.

A Baldur’s Gate TV series is set to follow on from Baldur’s Gate 3

Oooof. I have very little hope for this with how badly they screwed up Season 2. I loved and re-watched the first season of The Las of Us 4-5 times now. Only watched season 2 once and will not be watching Season 3 unless I'm very bored. The fact that Larian isn't involved is also another red flag.

-Foxtrot102d ago

TLOU show creator…oh God

There’s a reason why the show went from “Season 4 and possibly beyond” to “it might end at Season 3”

Daeloki102d ago

I mean regardless of who's making it, there's simply no hope for it.
A) Larian is not involved. This is gonna be pure Hasbro greed.
B) It's a game that largely revolves around player choice, with tons of outcomes and replayability. There is no single canon to translate into a show.
C) It's a high fantasy setting, with spectacular visuals that are going to be very expensive, and also very difficult to get to look actually good in live action.

Only potential they have is if they lean into campiness, make it vibe like old 90's, early 2000's fantasy shows like Xena, Mystic Knights etc. Less epic and more failed skill checks, "wrong" choices.

dmonee102d ago

From what I have read, The Last of Us season 2 woes, was because of Neil Druckman. I have hope for season 3 now that he is out if the equation. I have hope for BG live action show. Its also being worked in by the team that did Chernobyl.

Shaky Relationship meaning Hasbro wanted an even larger cut of the pie moving forward. Also why we're not getting BG4 w/Larian. Hasbro just wanted to bleed them dry.

Michiel1989128d ago

no im pretty sure it was related to the people from hasbro that helped with the game getting fired or that only the people from Larian were eligible for bonusses and Larian didn't fuck with that

Christopher127d ago

The people from Hasbro were fired by Hasbro. Why would non-workers on a game get bonuses for not having worked on the game (meaning anyone at Hasbro)?

repsahj129d ago (Edited 129d ago )

Because they are busy for the next Divinity game on Switch 2. Fine by me because I already have BG3 on my PS5, and believe me or not, I didn't finish it. Considering I bought the Deluxe edition to play it ahead of everyone. XD

gigoran8128d ago

if this were able to run on the switch 2, then theoretically the PS4 pro should be able to as well. can't wait for that port

Neonridr128d ago (Edited 128d ago )

you do realize that in terms of numbers it might be on par with a PS4 Pro. However, GPU wise, it has a much larger feature set available to it. The PS4 Pro couldn't even run FSR natively.

Terry_B127d ago

Yeah..I doubt BG3 would run well on the Switch 2.
