If they do this like XB... you wont need a 5. You could use a 4 or phone or PC or [Sony] tv to stream.

Anyone that actually cares about gaming will still need a console. Cloud gaming is still absolute garbage for anything that requires timing faster than Animal Crossing.

Old McGroin1023d ago

Definitely wouldn't ditch my PS5 but for people like me who don't have a huge amount of time at home to game this could be handy to do a bit of grinding in something like Diablo on your lunch break at work. Used to do it quite a bit with Xcloud. But there's no way in hell I'd play something like Final Fantasy 16 on it.

darthv721023d ago

Well... yeah. Nobody is saying this is aimed at the core player. This is more aimed at the casual player. Someone who may want to play here and there without committing to a system.

"Well... yeah. Nobody is saying this is aimed at the core player. This is more aimed at the casual player. Someone who may want to play here and there without committing to a system."

-- Just committing to another monthly subscription that ends up costing more than the console itself for a subpar experience. Their money not mine but "casual gamers" are playing iPhone games not getting PS5/Xbox subs instead of the unit itself. You're talking about a very small group of people. There's a market for it sure, but only because it's another potential revenue stream and a proper avenue to get into from a business perspective...a majority of people actually using cloud gaming aren't using it as their primary means of gaming.

It's actually a really good way of trying out a game in Gamepass before downloading it

If you want the worst gaming experience of your life, sure take that advice lol

Eonjay1023d ago

Correct and add PSQ to that. From what I'm hearing they are adding 4K streaming support. The point of the Q is being able to play the streaming games with a dual sense controller and with no TV.

So you are 100% correct.

Both companies are removing the need for expensive hardware.

darthv721023d ago

Project Q... most definitely. And if they add browser streaming support, then also count the steam deck and rog ally.

I've received the public beta code foe the system update, and then two days later an email with a code for the streaming. I haven't downloaded the updated yet(probably won't either). They requested that I back up all of my storage on the drives. The codes I received expire in October though, so maybe.

Eonjay1023d ago

Send me the code and let me try it! 😍

andy851023d ago

Ugh I hope it becomes as good as the XB cloud service. That could actually make their Project Q a huge success if you could remote play the games on PS Plus.

__SteakDeck__1023d ago

XCloud ain’t that great bruh. There’s latency and some lag on that as well. Google had the best streaming, but Stadia failed.

andy851023d ago

Works great for me. Admittedly I don't play any multiplayer games so no idea how it handles those but the solo games work very well on my device

RupeeHoarder1023d ago

Agreed. The only people hyping it are Xbox fanboys. It is no better than other services out there. I wouldn’t play any racing, fighters, shooters or multiplayer games on a cloud service.

darthv721023d ago

Having used both, I disagree. Stadia had more latency. Xcloud has been really good and Ive played gears and halo and forza. I love how the games pick up right where you left off on console. I even played flight sim on a vcr xbox one and it worked fine.

andy851023d ago

@Rupee I play Forza a lot and there's next to zero lag for me. And from my comments on here I'm absolutely not an Xbox fanboy 😂 I just appreciate when something works well.

Remote play has been working good for a long time now tbh.

crazyCoconuts1023d ago

I've tried PS, XB, NVidia, Stadia, and Luna. Nvidia was the best I've seen and it's still not consistent enough for me. And that's talking on a home wi-fi. The few times i tried on a phone were completely unacceptable.
I'd be surprised if streaming is anything more than niche for the next handful of years.

andy851023d ago

What's your connection? I was sick last week and played forza in bed for 4 hours on my phone and it didn't disconnect once and I don't remember any lag. And I really don't have an 'amazing' connection. 50Mb down/15Mb up

Muigi1023d ago

Meanwhile the PS3 streaming games look like ass.

umair_s511023d ago

With the horrendous latency
