Character Customization In Baldur

Baldur's Gate 3 is going to feature deeply involved character customization, inclusive of an option that will allow you to change genitals.

blackblades1045d ago

And, you won't be able to see those genitals so what.

Christopher1045d ago

Probably will be about romance options.

SullysCigar1045d ago

It's some shaky ground to use genitalia to dictate romance options in 2023, but if you're right, it's probably best to stock up on popcorn now!

Christopher1045d ago (Edited 1045d ago )

I mean, they've used genitalia in the past to do just that in BioWare games and the like. They just didn't offer the chance to change genitalia. You had characters that could be romanced by both sexes and some by just one. And this shouldn't be controversial. Giving more options doesn't mean they are forced on you. If you're upset, then you're looking for reasons to be upset and nothing else.

closed_account1045d ago

I'm assuming that includes the bear too.

SullysCigar1044d ago

I'm not upset, nor did I imply I was. It was just an observation based on your speculation, so quit making assumptions about me in an effort to claim the moral high ground.

Christopher1044d ago (Edited 1044d ago )

@Sully the 'if you're upset' is, first of all, a specifier that obviously doesn't apply to you so you obviously aren't the target of the statement and second It's what is considered a 'royal you' due to the 'if' specification and means it is aimed at the general audience reading the comment who aligns with the specification mentioned, not you specifically or even everyone.

Same way commercials say "Talk to your doctor if you experience symptoms." They're not saying everyone hearing that needs to do it, it's only intended for those that do.

closed_account1044d ago (Edited 1044d ago )

But the bears... they'll have junk right? Nooooo, not for THAT! but I'd like to kick one square in the nuts before fist brawling it.

Ah yes, a much needed feature, however I'm not ready to preorder until they confirm there's a butthole shade slider.

closed_account1045d ago (Edited 1045d ago )

Comeon bro. You're going to severely limit your romance options with that chocolate covered starfish. Or find yourself a nice Orc or Troll. They're into that.

closed_account1045d ago

Can I have an inverted penis? How about Elephantitis? Come on people, inclusivity!

CrimsonWing691045d ago (Edited 1045d ago )

I love how instead of media outlets just letting genitalia customization be like any other body part to customize we have to get articles really focused on it. It feels like something middle schoolers would do and be all “tee hee hee,” about.

I feel like this whole focus on a game having nudity, sex, or genitalia customization instead of “yea it’s in here” and shrug it off is why the medium will struggle to incorporate mature themes or content.

Then again, I’m seeing the media focus on nudity in shows or movies like Oppenheimer, so maybe it is what it is and there’s no way to ever be nonchalant about it in media? 🤷‍♂️

Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical and magical.

Oooof. I have very little hope for this with how badly they screwed up Season 2. I loved and re-watched the first season of The Las of Us 4-5 times now. Only watched season 2 once and will not be watching Season 3 unless I'm very bored. The fact that Larian isn't involved is also another red flag.

TLOU show creator…oh God

There’s a reason why the show went from “Season 4 and possibly beyond” to “it might end at Season 3”

Daeloki102d ago

I mean regardless of who's making it, there's simply no hope for it.
A) Larian is not involved. This is gonna be pure Hasbro greed.
B) It's a game that largely revolves around player choice, with tons of outcomes and replayability. There is no single canon to translate into a show.
C) It's a high fantasy setting, with spectacular visuals that are going to be very expensive, and also very difficult to get to look actually good in live action.

Only potential they have is if they lean into campiness, make it vibe like old 90's, early 2000's fantasy shows like Xena, Mystic Knights etc. Less epic and more failed skill checks, "wrong" choices.

dmonee102d ago

From what I have read, The Last of Us season 2 woes, was because of Neil Druckman. I have hope for season 3 now that he is out if the equation. I have hope for BG live action show. Its also being worked in by the team that did Chernobyl.

Shaky Relationship meaning Hasbro wanted an even larger cut of the pie moving forward. Also why we're not getting BG4 w/Larian. Hasbro just wanted to bleed them dry.

Michiel1989129d ago

no im pretty sure it was related to the people from hasbro that helped with the game getting fired or that only the people from Larian were eligible for bonusses and Larian didn't fuck with that

Christopher128d ago

The people from Hasbro were fired by Hasbro. Why would non-workers on a game get bonuses for not having worked on the game (meaning anyone at Hasbro)?

repsahj130d ago (Edited 130d ago )

Because they are busy for the next Divinity game on Switch 2. Fine by me because I already have BG3 on my PS5, and believe me or not, I didn't finish it. Considering I bought the Deluxe edition to play it ahead of everyone. XD

gigoran8129d ago

if this were able to run on the switch 2, then theoretically the PS4 pro should be able to as well. can't wait for that port

Neonridr128d ago (Edited 128d ago )

you do realize that in terms of numbers it might be on par with a PS4 Pro. However, GPU wise, it has a much larger feature set available to it. The PS4 Pro couldn't even run FSR natively.

Terry_B128d ago

Yeah..I doubt BG3 would run well on the Switch 2.
