Devin Rardin: The console wars might be a crowd of fans whose passion turned normal business politics into an all-out war.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

All available May 5.
I think the only game here for me is Nine Sols. Was always interested in that game.
Good month for me, I wanted that particular footy game and thought it might be due. Anyway who cares, shame about the site I'll miss the comment sections. All the best everyone.
Both, when you have two or more businesses competing within the same market for a similar customer base there is always going to be competition to own market share and mindshare.

It’s just going to happen, there’s a limited number of consumers, and the goal is to get the consumers to invest into your brand, that’s just business / sales / and as a result reality.
It becomes a social construct due to preference and implicate bias. The issue is, with too much bias, tribalism takes place and common sense and logic go out the window as people begin to associate their being/identity with a brand and people devolve into an illogical mess, spending hours of their day in forums / YouTube comments / etc… campaigning/shilling for brands that don’t even know their names and wouldn’t attend their funeral.
Regulators and judges are now in using the term. I guess it's that serious now. Before it was definitely a social construct.
Just another word for competition, every industry has it.
For some, reason to wake up in the morning, it looks like. /s
But that's happening with everything - what car manufacturer is the best, what programming language is the best, what phone brand is the top one, which state sucks and which doesn't, you name it. So every little thing (even the most minor one) to feed their superiority complex, to make other people know that my choice was the best of the best and your is wrong/sucks/you name it (even if you have to lie about it or ignore problems, or act like they don't matter).
The issue is settled. The console wars are not a social construct as Phil would like to believe. The war is real and Xbox lost. Microsoft put it in writing and submitted it to the court in the FTC hearing. “Xbox lost the console wars”. All these acquisitions are Microsoft’s way of getting the best terms for an armistice. Nintendo withdrew from the war altogether, and now lives entirely in handheld land.
