Super Mario RPG Remake, Star Ocean 2, MGS Collection, Pikmin 4 and a new 2D Mario game? Sure there were some yawners in this direct, but overall it was pretty solid with lots of good content coming.

Considering these all will be out within 6 Months, I'm happy with the show.
These are just the short term games, many of which were surprises.

Come January, Nintendo could Direct us a whole new slew of games. Who knows?

Hopefully hardware update is the next Direct.

When it comes to Nintendo first-party games for the most part I've basically moved on from playing them, guessing losing interest due to me getting older. I haven't bought a Nintendo console since the SNES. I was gifted a Switch last month so I decided to watch the Direct. Out of the entire Direct only 2 games caught my interest & they were Nintendo first-party games...lol. Super Mario RPG was the first ever RPG game I ever played when I owned a SNES 27 years ago & after playing I was hooked on RPGs. I bought almost every Square, Enix & RPG that was available on the SNES. Seeing the new version of SM RPG brought back nostalgia so I'm definitely buying it when it releases late this year. I haven't played a Super Mario game in a very long time so when I saw Super Mario Bros: Wonder I said it looks like the old SM but with a twist & upgraded graphics, so I may buy that game as well.

Star Ocean Second Story I own on PSP. Nice though but I’ll get it on PS5.
Super Mario RPG nice too . The rest is not my type of stuff or on PS5.

That was terrible. Seriously, people need to stop shilling for Nintendo.

While I love Nintendo games, it is now abundantly clear that the system is at the end of its life cycle.

Nintendo seems to be running out of ideas as we are now seeing 2nd wario game this gen, second 1-2 switch game (announced prior to the direct), 3rd Mario 2d, and more remakes.

They have already exhausted all other franchises (Kirby got 4 games! Smash Bros & Mario Kart can not get another game this gen, Pokemon got numerous releases, Xenoblade show 3 releases if we count the remaster, Metroid will have 3 games, 4 Zeldas, 2 splatoons etc).

They need to release a new system with backwards compatibility, new gimmick (becoz nintendo) and better performance to finally deliver next level of Nintendo games.

Imagine the possibilities if Nintendo had a powerful system that could support better AI, real time weather effects, higher density worlds, so that they could realize their vision (next iteration of Zelda for instance).

Having said that, they still have some franchises that could be revived (3d donkey kong, Starfox, F-Zero and Kid Icarus to name but a few).
