Had it also been PC compatible I'd be more inclined to have gotten it otherwise I'll wait for a steep discount or a 7 game bundle.

I got my psvr2 shortly after launch. This is my honest take.

The hardware is pretty solid. It’s not bringing anything to the table that isn’t already available on the pc side, with even higher fidelity options available, but it’s exponentially better than the original psvr in pretty much every single way.

Has cool features. The eye tracking is awesome and works really well. Again it’s not new but it’s cool. The controllers are more like standard vr controllers now - almost identical to the Quest 2 (but bigger) and the Vive ones etc.

Where we start running into problems begins with the launch lineup. GT7 is fantastic. Horizon Call of the Mountain while not an amazing game, does s good job of showcasing the power of the unit/ps5. There are other good games as well but the thing is, most of this stuff isn’t new. It’s stuff that’s already been on VR forever, or clones of those games, or new games based off the same gimmicks. Aside from a handful of titles, most of the games aren’t games you would necessarily want to spend nearly $600 on to be able to play. It’s like getting a ps5, but only having mostly ps2 or ps3 games to play.

The bigger issue is VR in general. Aside from a few cases, it’s just not practical. There’s a lot of compromises that often have to be made etc. it feels very niche. There are promises of VR expanding, but honestly it feels like it’s been stuck in nearly the same spot for almost a decade. Sure the hardware gets better/faster/higher Rez etc but the games feel and mostly look the same. The coming games largely don’t move the needle either.

In retrospect I probably wouldn’t buy it again. I don’t really use it much at this point to be honest. Once the initial sparkle wears off it starts to feel like work to want to use it.

In my opinion I don't really see anyone boasting about PSVR2 & I don't think it's really going to be any bigger than PSVR though the tech is better it seems as of now it's still a very niche product.

It was huge succes and it have allready so many great games and hundred of more are coming. Best purchase of my 34yo gaming career. Having a blast with redmatter 2, walkabout atm. Also extra mention that the people online with psvr2 games are super well mannered and triple A gaming company.

What clickbait

I agree with the... "To move VR Gaming from niche to mass market adoption, Sony must provide PSVR 2 Games on the same level as their AAA flatscreen brethern" .... BUT I also believe it'll take new adopters and designers to develop and utilize the headgear too. It doesn't necessarily have to be just games. The Medical field, Driver tuition, Flight simulation training, the Army with battlefield scenarios, etc etc, the porn industry/market dare I say it. The VR field in general is in it's infancy at present but given the opportunity can flourish well beyond just the gaming market but all industries need to start experimenting with this new (ish) technology and help make it grow.
