Its the opposite for me. The gameplay was what kept me on but the story was just absolute dog water. It was pure Kojima unrestrained. It felt like he took a night class on symbolism, stayed for the first 10 minutes and decided he'd learned enough. The constant vomit of symbolism was just mind-numbingly cringe. It lacked absolutely no subtlety whatsoever. Every damn sentence was just filled with "Porter, bridges" and references to connections or some other bs. I still have no damn idea what the story is even about and stopped caring honestly. I'll prob play the director's cut but as for the cutscenes? Hard skip.
