Redfall Review - Noisy Pixel

Noisy Pixel: "From its reveal, Arkane Austin’s Redfall has had me a bit confused. Although I love the idea of traversing a vampiric-ridden world with the freedom this developer typically provides, I couldn’t help but question if this is the game we really needed right now. After a few delays before its release, it’s evident this game underwent some changes as it balances its multiplayer elements and loot-collecting systems, but the experience largely lacks direction"

I personally think 4/10 is bit harsh!

monkey6021110d ago

Unfortunately I don't think it is. The game is in an awful state

FPSRUSSIA1110d ago

i would agree but its also getting mostly negative reviews on Steam its not only reviews who think the game is bad

Sonic18811110d ago (Edited 1110d ago )

Xbox fans would think that

solideagle1110d ago (Edited 1110d ago )

whether this game has been tested internally and externally via the public?. who approved such a disaster product?

A boring game with poor animation, terrible AI, and poor texturing.

People are comparing this game to previous generation launch titles that are far superior to it on Twitter like crazy.

Personally, I blame Microsoft for this failed launch because they have rushed to release an unfinished product.

cammers19951110d ago

The future of Microsoft. That's why they're desperate to get Activision. I feel bad for Bethesda and the future of fallout and elder scrolls.

TheEnigma3131110d ago

Don't feel bad for Bethesda, they chose this after seeing what MS has done to multiple studios. What ever happens, they asked for it.

GotGame8181110d ago

This "review" should be removed!

GotGame8181110d ago

I just played the opening 2 hours. Did you? A 4/10 isn't deserved!

Flawlessmic1110d ago

If you played 2 hrs then you would've seen the same thing I did, choppy framerate, graphics of an early ps4/xone game, poor gunplay, world dumbest and jankiest AI. Npcs look absolutely comical and not in a good way, like how did they think that's acceptable.

I thought the game was gonna be decent enough that I'll atleast play and finish it, after tonight though I'd be surprised if I go back to it.

4/10 is not a stretch at all, and is a 5/10 really that much better.

I've been waiting for a top quality AAA game from ms since September 2021, we are now almost half way through 2023.

Ms better have a blinder of a last half of this gen cause I'm done wasting money on there shit boxes.

Sony delivers without fail as does Nintendo, xbox is consistently the one that sucks and yet we still buy in believing in ohil and things will get better.

Jokes on xbox gamers.

Chevalier1110d ago

It's the 3rd review that gave it a 4/10 so seems to be on point since it's not just an outlier.

SullysCigar1110d ago

Why do you say that? Did you comment on the wrong article?

I just read it. It's lengthy, detailed and seems fair. You can tell they wanted to like this game and they're fans of the developer. They sound genuinely disappointed:

"Redfall is an anomaly, because a game with this good of a team behind it can’t possibly be this bad, and yet, it is."

Concord, Suicide Squad, Fairgame$ And ‘Vibes-Based’ Failures

Paul Tassi: "Sony recently reiterated its commitment to live service games with one big hit last year (Helldivers 2), one big cancellation (The Last of Us Factions) and one big failure (Concord). It’s no great surprise it is continuing down this road, given the way the industry is trending and the limited shelf life of its famed single player games. But it immediately made me think of a game that Sony is allegedly releasing that I have to believe is pre-destined to fail, Fairgame$."

Alos88499d ago

Fairgame$ feels like it's destined to flop out the gate- that initial trailer felt full of that same instantly-dated 'fight The Man with a ragtag team of weirdos' energy that was prevalent in Sega's Hyenas (which they wisely cancelled.) Unlike Marathon I just don't see this standing a chance.

Nacho_Z499d ago

It will definitely flop, missed the boat by a couple of years. Agreed that Marathon has a decent chance of succeeding it looks genuinely good and interesting.

It can't be sustainable having all these expensive GaaS being DOA being balanced by the odd modest success like Helldivers. The aim is to find the new Fortnite or whatever but it's highly unlikely and seems to be a massive waste of money.

Concord and the Other Biggest Flops of This Generation

Some of the biggest success stories in the history of gaming have happened during this generation of gaming. At the same time, some of the biggest flops in the history of gaming have also happened during this generation of gaming. To this end, a few games particularly stick out as, unfortunately, disastrous flops for those who made the games, sold the games, and ultimately, for many that played the games.

What a strange, short list. There have been many more games that arrived DOA, were never released, didn’t make their budget back, etc. Why cherry pick these games? Is this list based on the size of internet hate boners?

EternalTitan616d ago

These flops have a similarity that you may not be allowed to point out.

Skull and Bones gets my vote, at this point just completely remake AC Black Flag. If the Concord developers had made the game free to play, and toned down the in your face messaging via the mods and design choices, this game could have been serviceable eventually. I never understand why pandering to 5% of your audience and giving the finger to the other 95% seems like a good idea to these people. They never seem to learn. Disney has lost 1/3rd of its value and they keep doubling down on political messaging. I don’t get it.

BlackTar187616d ago

Some of these companies are paid huge amounts of money to do this stuff. They get truck loads of money to give “the message”
By blackrock and vanguards and multiple other venture capitalists even though it’s been proven over and over they fail.

I'm not interested in this game but i think it's great they added the offline mode for those who are.

darthv72715d ago

It was okay at first... once they added the performance update it was definitely better.

TwoPicklesGood716d ago

Bury this turd. It’s only good as a reminder of what devs shouldn’t do.

mkis007715d ago

I hate the concept of an announced final update.
