Windows or OS X on the PS4?

The PS3 has the ability to install a Linux OS on its HDD, turning it into a home computer. This offers great flexibility to the system, which some love and others don't care for. We here at PS4Talk see this as a possible step towards one of the more popular OS's being available on the PS4, that the regular consumer will care to use. Linux is a massively popular OS, but ask the general person what is is and they just shrug their shoulders and think you're an uber geek.

Of course, this is purely pipe dreams and speculation, but thought arousing non-the-less. What are your thoughts regarding the matter of 3rd party OS's on the PS4? Perhaps even the rumoured Google OS will make a show on the PS4.

but i agree 100%given the options

Ha... I'd say there's more chance of that than either of the other two. But realistically, they'd stick to Linux which aint bad for us, it's free.

I doubt they'll have any OS, they'll just let the consumer choose, like they did with PS3, and allowed any Linux OS be installed should they choose.

yup, unless some kind of alliance between company's is struck thats likely to happen as it has with PS3.

Running an alternative OS is not for the general user. It's an ADVANCED feature, it runs Linux because it's open source and some versions are designed with PS3 as a consideration now.

But having an OS on a Sony console is pure awesome.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle24d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
