I do realize that it's a work in progress, but it looks as if it plays just like Tekken 5(which played like Tekken 3...). Even the graphics are a bit underwhelming to say the least. They do look good, but I remember being blown away by Tekken Tag's debut on the PS2 many years ago. I hate to say it...but Virtua Fighter looks better at the moment, and this is coming from a Tekken fan(VF is cool, but very difficult to master).

I suppose there's nothing wrong with that(considering there's plenty of time left), but with so many games having people saying "now that's next gen!", this trailer worries me somewhat. We've got games that are breaking new ground that was inconceivable years ago(Lair, Crysis, Heavy Rain, KZ, Gears, Huxley, MGS, etc.), and here we have what seems to be yesteryear's top fighter with prettier graphics. The visuals are decidedly next-gen, but this is the same fighting engine we've seen since Tekken 3!

Oh well, hopefully they throw something new into the mix to add a bit more to this game. I'm a huge Tekken fan, and I'm sure I'll be pleased when I buy this, but as it stands, I'm not impressed...

obviously dc rider you are not a fan since you dont even know the name of the character at the end is BRIAN, DOA is a button masher, the only character who you would get away with button mashing is eddy/christie. but you probably dont even know who those two are too. go play the game and attempt button mashing and get owned by who ever you are playing against.

Come on , Namco. Aside from the new characters, the old chracters still have the same animations that have been used forever and forever. They could have at least applied the Aegia(sp) Physics engine or something. Those environments better be interactive some what like DOA4. I've been dying to see what this game looks like after its hiatus from E3'06, and this is it? They have a lot of improving to do. I agree with Genki, I was blown away when I saw Tekken Tag. Tekken 5 was a big improvement as well.

But I'm sure they can make it look even better. During the Bryan/Dragunov fight it looked like the damage to the ground was permanent rather than temporary(tekken 5 style). The environments are very impressive, but the lighting seemed like it was missing something. Contrast maybe?

I'm glad that they didn't go for the super-glossy look of VF5. Two things that would definitely help are more ambient physics (sand, dirt, dust, pebbles, rain, random objects in the scene) and a more dynamic camera. I wouldn't want the camera to go wild and start spinning all over the place, but having it constantly adjust and possibly react to character's combos would be nice (the opposing player can't do anything during juggles, so the devs would have some leeway there).

Nice to see that they're coming along though. Hopefully they'll release here in time for christmas.

if you ask me, i think namco will bring the visuals up to par, they did it with RR7, they have the time and skills and even more help from sony now, my thing now is for them to bring the game online, a full fledged online game with world rankings and competions with other folks over ther in japan and europe would only make what tekken closer to the perfect fighter it's been over the years, as of right now, the game pales incomparison to VF5, but thats not to say that this game wont look just as good or even surpass it, namco has a particular pride in it's fighting games and knows what we want out of it visually so i'm not worried about the graphics, i'd really like to see some environments where weather is also affects the match like rain, snow, even temperature, extreme cold may change the reaction time of both the characters, all i'm saying is they need to do something really amazing with this tekken because we are expecting something big. Tekken 6 cant just be a nextgen tekken 5 because it wont do well, and i'm confident they can. improve on this tenfold.

Now that Jim Ryan is gone just need to remove Herman Hulst from his position! And maybe give Shuhei the position he deserved.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
