Capcom Should Just Remake Resident Evil 5 While They're At It

Following the success of Resi 4, Resident Evil 5 represents arguably the most interesting chance to redo a Resident Evil game since the GameCube.

Code Veronica first
Then the original RE
Then RE 0
Then Outbreak

After that RE5…as long as they change it heavily and remove co-op so people playing solo aren’t plagued with a bad AI, less tension, scares and awful “work together to open this door” parts.

jaymacx1071d ago

I agree 100% I do think Capcom has found the right formula for RE now.

-Foxtrot1071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

And it would be a damn shame for them to do RE5 exactly how it was where history would repeat its self

Then next thing you know we’ll have another RE6

Just sad people asking for co-op when they knew what happened

Ask for an Outbreak game where co-op makes sense rather than cramming it into a main game where the horror/survival elements were sucked out

thesoftware7301071d ago

Yes!!!

5 was my favorite besides RE1; Remake(pure bliss at the time)

-Foxtrot1071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

Code Veronica was better that RE5

It actually felt more like a RE game

Not just an action co-op game where the series started to go downhill

gangsta_red1071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

Code Veronica absolutely, the original RE has already had a remake tho, I like to think that is what kicked off the RE Remake craze.

RE 0 needs to be done just as bad as Code Veronica.

Outbreak is a must, especially with online being a standard. Back when it first came out, having an online connection to your PS2 was a rare commodity

-Foxtrot1071d ago

It’s been 20 years since the original RE and if they work on it now or do Code Veronica next it’ll be like 25 years or so before we get it

Plenty of time to re-do it

danglyparts1071d ago

Re1 was remade 20 years ago, it didn't kick off anything.

Re7 was the first game to use the RE engine, which then was used to remake 2.

gangsta_red1071d ago

"Re7 was the first game to use the RE engine, which then was used to remake 2."

And they went with a remake of part 2 because they already remade the first Resident Evil.

thesoftware7301071d ago

I would like the straight jump to 5 please.

They did, 2, 3, 4. ..lets not break the pattern.

AnotherGamer1071d ago

I think they should leave Re remake and Zero alone, they're still perfectly fine. Re5 on the other hand, needs a major makeover.

goldwyncq1071d ago

Do CV then 5. The first RE already got a remake that still holds up well and I don’t care much about the other 2.

NovusTerminus1071d ago

I just want Co-op in the Mercs mode.

danglyparts1071d ago

CV first would be great. No thanks to outbreak or zero.

5 is one of the greatest co-op games ever made, but we live in different times now where couch co-op doesn't really exist and integrating online play would be a mess.

But AI co-op should remain. The AI in re4make is great. I do hope the focus is on horror, though. The same tone as re4make would be perfect.

Starman691071d ago

Code Veronica still my fav 👌

Neonridr1070d ago (Edited 1070d ago )

I agree that we need remakes of 0, 1 and Code Veronica before we start getting to any of the newer stuff. Code Veronica is probably the most hurting for a remake.

Would love me some high quality Resi Co-Op

thesoftware7301071d ago

Yes!!!

And the Merc mode on 5 Remake/updated would be super fun.

rpvenom1071d ago

Same, I really enjoyed playing through this with a friend. Good times.

FortWaba1071d ago

What a stupid article. Of course RE5 is getting a remake. They all are, releasing on alternating years with mainline titles.

We'll likely get RE9 (RE IX?) in the next 24 months, and then a remake by the B-team on the following year.

Code Veronica is the most requested remake now that re4 is out, so I'm guessing they might go that way.

I hope RE5 includes the coop, which was a blast.

However, the game in the franchise that needs a remake the most is 6. That game was very ambitious, but very flawed. Crapcom is gone, and CapGod is back, so I think if they were to tackle it again, it would be aces.

onisama1071d ago

Resident evil 5 is my 2nd favorite in the series i dont get the hate it received at the time, i will replay it since your remind me thanks

Levii_921071d ago

It gets the hate because it’s like a Michael Bay action movie compared to what came before and a lot of things were worse and not as good as Re4 and then Re6 is like a parody of a Michael Bay action movie.

Capcom's willingness to invest in experiments and scrap them sets them apart form many other developers (Nintendo have a similar methodology). Far too often companies push a game setting or game mechanic that is just not that good and the final product is middling or poor.

I mean 0, 1 and Code Veronica should be way before we get into 5 or 6.

Darkseeker46d ago

5 and 6 are so bad that even Capcom want to pretend they don't exist.

Levii_9246d ago

Dude Code Veronica is bad too but RE5 and 6 were mega successful and to me it makes much more sense for Capcom to do them instead. Nobody cares about Code Veronica except niche fixed camera era RE fans, i bet most modern RE fans probably don't know Code Veronica even exists. Based on all that i don't believe CV remake is coming but we will see i guess.

MehmetAlperTR46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

Actually RE5-6 was not Classic RE game.. They are not even Survival Horror game.. They are just an action game with coop and named by RE... And for me RE Code Veronica was masterpiece.. I remembered the first time i played it in Dreamcast.. It was absouletly excellent game. And specially for RE6.. I was quit from game after the camera shakes when Leon's kick to zombies.. There's a video about RE6 and they are telling the truth about that shitty game https://www.youtube.com/wat... here it is.. Enjoy it..

Neonridr45d ago

people are DYING for a Code Veronica Remake. Not sure who you are talking to, but the die-hard RE fans of the series are very familiar with every entry. That's what it means to be called a die-hard fan.

neutralgamer199245d ago

Levii

I am sure If they were to remake CV that it 2ont have fixed camera angle. I hope whatever they do they take their time like RE2/4 remakes and not rushed with cut content like RE3 remake

Before they should do RE5 they should go back and remake earlier games. In a perfect scenario we would get CV and RE/Zero before RE5/6

Tapani45d ago

Code Veronica on Dreamcast was absolutely AWESOME.

It makes more sense for them to remake earlier games like Code Veronica. RE5 is a good game though - it's not THAT different from RE4.

RE5 just doesn't really need to remade in general. The co-op element makes it tricky - you'd probably add more moments where Chris is by himself enhance the horror but some would want co-op to stay.

thesoftware73045d ago

RE:5 Was and still is a great game, with hands down the best Merc mode, that I still play from time to time with my brother.

RE:6 blah, I agree, it was awful.

Redgrave45d ago

Other than Code Veronica, 6 is the one ai want to see remade the most only because pretty much everything has to be redone; can't streamline that hot mess.

DarXyde45d ago

6 was pretty bad. 5 just tried too hard in being an action-oriented RE4.

In some fairness to Capcom, 5 was the first Resident Evil on then-new hardware for them (X360 and PS3). And it was pretty damn hard to follow up RE4.

Imagine everyone's surprise when EA of all companies dropped Dead Space.

Alos8845d ago

The first half of 5 wouldn't be too hard to do in the more grounded style the remakes have gone for, but the second half gets pretty silly and uncomfortable at parts.
6 is a wash. You'd have to basically make a whole new game to salvage that one at this point.

__y2jb45d ago

6 is garbage. 5 is excellent.

Hopefully if and when they do a RE5 remake, they give it the RE3 remake treatment, because this is certainly one title that I don't want a faithful remake of.
