Atomic Heart Review - IGN

Atomic Heart is a highly imaginative, atompunk-inspired attempt at picking up where the likes of BioShock left off that makes missteps but definitely has the ticker to punch well above its weight.

solideagle1204d ago

8/10 IGN
4/10 Twinfinite

whom to believe lol

PureBlood1203d ago

Neither are trustworthy in my view!

hotnickles1203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

I would trust the opinion of any user here before any of these websites’ numeric values lol.

Any attempt to recreate the days of bioshock gets a buy from me. If they come up short that’s okay, most games come up short compared to bioshock.

Burrito26a1203d ago

@hotnickles Any user here?

PureBlood1203d ago

^ lol any except THAT one of which we shall not speak, surely!

Moegooner1203d ago

Check old review scores of games you played and see which site you agree more with. IGN reviews are a joke imo. Always have been.

Crows901203d ago

It's important to distinguish reviewers within these sites

crazyCoconuts1203d ago

Metacritic in the 7's so far
I'm very impressed it's done that well actually.
I suspected it was going to be in the 6's from the early gameplay I saw

Jin_Sakai1203d ago

It’s mid 70s on Metacritic so it’s an average game I’d say.

shinoff21831203d ago

Even if it ended up being a 6 or 7. Still good imo.

vTuro241203d ago

Watch gameplay, watch some reviews, hear what players have to say and form your own opinion.

shinoff21831203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

I used to roll with ign, was on the forums and everything. Then I found n4g. Ign don't seem to same for awhile now.

Not saying their review is wrong or bad. Just more the site itself

danglyparts1203d ago

reviews seem pretty polarizing, im definitely intrigued though

antikbaka1203d ago

it's steam released game - wanna know real rating? check users reviews there (87% reviews are positive)

Eidolon1203d ago

Leaning more towards IGN's score. 4/10 is ridiculous.

Elda1203d ago

I'll be trying this game out on GP.

Elda1203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

The best way to sample multi-plat games. One reviewer from Game Rant states that the game is riddled with bugs & issues on the XBSX the same console I'll be trying this out on. If the game seems fun but is hampered by these issues I'll have no problem buying a copy for my PS5.

Obscure_Observer1203d ago

"If the game seems fun but is hampered by these issues I'll have no problem buying a copy for my PS5"

Lol. Whatever you say, miss. I told you, you´re the type of person that bites the hand that feeds you. The ungrateful and hypocritical type. So no surprises here. XD

Elda1203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

"Bites the hand that feeds you" What is this BS you are talking about?? LMAO!! The feeling is mutual. You're the delusional fanboy that can't take the fact that the very platform you praise aren't getting the praise that the competition is, including me stating the obvious about the platform you worship.

shinoff21831203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

Elda

Same boat. If I like I'll eventually buy the physical on ps5. I just prefer physical. Did that with edge of eternity to

Flawlessmic1203d ago

I'll be playing it on gp and won't be buying it for either my xsx or ps5 lol regardless of if I love it or not.

Defeats the purpose of me buying an xbox just go to then buy games that are already available to me

Elda1203d ago

Different strokes for different folks. To each their own.

badz1491203d ago

seriously, why are some of you guys mad at him for trying it on GP? they put it on the service, and it's only right for him to play it at its fullest and not even think about buying it...just as MS and the publisher/dev intended!

warriorcase1203d ago

Let be real, N4G has some real hardcore fanboy losers on here that downvote anything to do with a console they don't own. Play however you want to play I say. Should be about the games first and foremost

Eidolon1203d ago

I'm enjoying the game so far, from GP on PC, I don't see how consoles can have worse performance and more bugs. Haven't spotted any bugs besides what I see on even hugely successful AAA games(with 2+ years of patches).

Yui_Suzumiya1203d ago

This, Dead Space and Starfield are the only reasons I'm considering getting into current gen gaming and getting a Series X.

GotGame8181203d ago

Load times alone make the purchase worth it. Even Xbox One X and PS4 Pro take forever to load. SSD has changed all that.

PS5 is almost always faster loading than Series X. Both are amazing in that respect. Just look at load times for something like GTA 5 current gen vs Pro consoles last gen.

Most times in games now, I don't have time to read hints and tips. There isn't time. Hogwarts Legacy for instance. A tip flashes at the bottom, and then the game is loaded. I am curious how that will play out l, on last Gen systems.

Crows901203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

They should move hints to the start menu or some in game menu

shinoff21831203d ago

Crows90

Or another option could be to make you hit the x button to continue game on a load screen. That way those interested in reading can atleast read it.

Yui_Suzumiya1203d ago

This generation I got into visual novels which is why all I require is a Switch OLED and laptop to have access to all those. I also love JRPG's and old school FPS's which Switch has a ton of. Just nothing current gen has honestly interested me until stuff like this have now finally released. The Last of Us Remake looked pretty awesome too. I think most mainstream games like Horizon and God of War are quite frankly overbloated and overrated. I want more stuff like what was released during the PS3 era which is exactly what this looks like and the upcoming Starfield. BioShock, Dishonored, Wolfenstein, Fallout, Persona 5, Portal, The Evil Within, The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, Mass Effect
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Silent Hill. More stuff like that and I'll be out getting a PS5 or a Series X immediately.

Crows901203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

So 1 good remake and 2 unknowns are the reason?
Thats a little sad to hear

I mean launch year of PS5 with demons souls remake, ratchet and clank and returnal are far more enticing than the 3 you picked out...except for dead space

LabRat1203d ago

He must just have different tastes then you. It'd be pretty boring if we all liked the same things

Crows901203d ago

@labrat

Well that's false because I'm still interested in the ones he mentioned.

Yui_Suzumiya1203d ago

I'm not interested in any of those games. You want a real masterpiece then check out Island, The House in Fata Morgana or The Grisaia Trilogy.

jznrpg1203d ago

To me this looks like a 6 type of game. That doesn’t mean it’s bad but most of these shooter games these days are 6-7 types of games . Maybe I’ll play it someday but I have much better games to play atm .

MightyHealthy1203d ago

Youtuber ACG said its worth the purchase

porkChop1203d ago

His reviews are great. Super thorough, minimal spoilers, he seems very fair, and his taste in games usually lines up with mine.

10 million players for Atomic Heart, nice!

Does this mean we might see an Atomic Heart 2? Crispy Critters!

NovoSlev374d ago

They're launching a new publishing label, Mundfish Powerhouse, but I wouldn't be shocked if they'll be using that to self-publish Atomic Heart 2 - hopefully!

Lightning77373d ago

It's on GP. 10 million players and a made another studio? So Did Gamepass help or contribute in making another studio for them? I know its on other platforms which also helped their new venture.

Boy_the_CowRoy373d ago

10 million? Hard to believe for a game with only 400 people playing this game currently and a all time peak of only 37k on PC. Is the difference in popularity of this game on console and PC really that big?

MrDead373d ago

Well done Mundfish, I had a fun time with this game... apart from the 2nd dlc. Great world building, a solid storyline and Bioshock style gameplay. Looking forward to what comes next.

DivineHand125371d ago

I started playing the game on Gamepass a while back. I stopped because it wasn't my cup of tea.

I am glad they were able to build a fan base for this game.
