PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

Next-gen virtual reality arrives.

If you have any interest in virtual reality, then PSVR2 should be on your radar without any shadow of a doubt. And if you’re a skeptic, we’d recommend trying it out if possible, because we can’t envisage anyone coming away unimpressed.

Lol Is this even a question at this point, given the reviews?

Good article though. Thorough.

PSVR2 reviews are great and I’d probably purchase one for the experience if it were cheaper. $603 after tax is a little out of my price range unfortunately.

I’m sure it’s an amazing kit though. DF praised the heavens out of it.

Man I want one. I had the PSVR 1. But the price is hefty.. I'm in canada so its $749 + 13% tax.. I can't justify that as much as I want one so badly.

SullysCigar1185d ago

Absolutely worth it, from all the reviews. And there's over 150 games already announced, so there's a massive choice and plenty is high quality.

There's also well over 20 free upgrades confirmed now, for those concerned about backwards compatibility. Looks like worthwhile improvements too, to controls as well as visuals and performance.

It's going to take some pretty special flat games to pull me away from PSVR2 this year.

Lol IGN did a video last week (about PSVR2) and neither of the hosts even knew what the controllers were called!

They have zero clue about VR - their ignorance is shameful given their reach.

SullysCigar1185d ago

^ What PureBlood said.

Asking for IGN's opinion on VR is like asking a McDonalds burger flipper to critique a fillet mignon prepared by the head chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant. They're heathens.

Can't spell IGNorant without IGN

(3) AAA games in Gran Turismo 7, RE:Village, and Horizon: Call of the Mountain all available on day 1 and over 100 titles within just the launch window. Yea, I think it’s going to justify itself pretty quickly in my house. Absolutely can’t wait for that box to arrive next week.

MrNinosan1185d ago

Pretty sure No Man Sky can be put in the AAA bottle now 👍

ApocalypseShadow1185d ago

If you like VR then of course. It's not like anyone else is offering high fidelity VR on consoles. Well, someone promised but didn't deliver. But Sony did deliver. And it's getting great reviews.

Question, can you play non vr games via the headset & watch movies like you could with the psvr1?

Knushwood Butt1185d ago

I watched Videodrome using the PSVR headset last weekend. That was pretty intense.

Looking forward to watching 4K movies on the PSVR2 headset.

Simundo1184d ago

The cinematic mode is 1080p. But I've read nothing but good things about it and it sounds like PSVR2 is a totally viable option as a big TV to play flat games on and watch movies. Excited to see for myself.

SullysCigar1185d ago

From what I read, it's A LOT better now!

There's actually a section covering it in this article. If you open it up, it has hyperlinks to go to the relevant section, there's that much info there.

Vanfernal1184d ago

Yes. With 120hz oled HDR screens no less.

Ozzy24071184d ago (Edited 1184d ago )

Apparently Non VR games and Movies look great in the headset
