i dont think there will be any problem getting one, therefore no need for scalpers, or no opportunity for them, as theres one thing sony can pump out, or two actually; and that's high end plasticky gizmos and accessories, and high quality glass lenses for cameras etc,, they are the market leaders by a mile in lens production, also in a collective with toshiba and hitachi called the 'japan display collective' and they make sure japan can keep producing displays in a competitive way with raw material supply's etc. so japan can be competitive against china/korea.

they also partnered with philips to invent the CD compact disk
philips again to create S/PDIF for audio cables, (sony Philips digital interface) which is used in recording studios when burning master cd for reproduction.

also changed the world by giving skateboarders the first commercially available hand held battery powered handycams, to skateboarders in the 80's. it was called the sony VX-1000

I do agree, but thanks to going into production so late in the day (in order to ensure cutting edge specs and finalise the eye tracking details with Tobii), they have a limited supply at launch. This happened with PSVR at launch too and the scalpers were all over that. On ebay, as usual lol

I'm not sure how quickly the will get the next batch of headsets to retail after the initial batch is gone. I don't think it's likely they will be manufacturing immediately after the first batch is shipped, because they'll want to get a better understanding of demand first.
