Let’s not beat around the bush: PlayStation has been weird recently. While it’s not the end of the world – the Japanese giant’s still found impressive success in unprecedented circumstances – it’s clear that the aftermath of the pandemic has rocked the PS5’s first few years.

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "While not carrying the same heft it enjoyed long ago, last year was one of the adventure genre's most commercially-successful years in this century. A Telltale-esque adventure eclipsing 3 million sales in three months would be the talk of the town were it not for another adventure game hurdling over 10 million sales in two. Though not all finalists reached those heights, each did share a greater amount of spotlight compared to similar titles within their respective sub-genres.
Past any sales thresholds and popularity contests, 2025 also deserves credit for its creativity; the last time our entire shortlist consisted exclusively of new IPs was for Best Adventure Game of 2020. An impressive year for the genre, with even greater potential ahead."
Inti Creates’ vibrant action platformer Majogami will shed its Switch console exclusivity and strike PS5 on 28th May, the Japanese dev has announced.
Today, Bungie premiered its “Developer Insights | Runner Shells” video of their PvPvE survival extraction FPS Marathon.
There's quite a disconnect between the headline and content here... It's the biggest and best year ever, but they've only announced 2 games, one of which won't arrive in 2023?
Okay... so based on the information we have today, it's not bigger or better than 2022 was, or even 2021 for that matter.
Not likely. They would have to announce and release in the same year some pretty heavy hitters to do that. Right now, it's Spider-Man 2 and...?
And that's not me saying that, that's Sony: https://blog.playstation.co...
Forspoken, FF16 and Spider-Man 2 is the line up as far as we know. I'm curious if Sony will actually attend E3 2023. It'll be 4 years since they attended and they didn't hold a PS showcase this year. I think it would be great if Sony showed up this year if not then hopefully theyll do a PS showcase at around E3 similar to what they did last year with State Of Play.
Either way I'm not worried about Sony The least bit imo they deliver regardless and always will.
It doesn’t need to be best year ever or some headline like that . Another year like this last year I will be happy .
We know they have a lot of games in the making and I’m positive at least a few are getting close to being finished but they are holding their cards as tight as they can against their chest .
Can it be the best year of PS5 ? Sure
Will it be ? Don’t know yet they have been withholding info for the longest time than ever before .
Either way I’m not concerned as they have delivered for as long as I’ve owned PS .
FF16 , SpiderMan 2 , Forspoken , PSVR2 is what we know and multiplats . I do think they will throw in a couple more exclusive games next year at least.
Personally I would like to know what PS first-party exclusives are releasing in 2023 that I'll be able to play on my PS5. Sony PS usually lets the gaming community know what to look forward to in the next year when it comes to their first-party exclusives & the only thing that's really been announced is HFW dlc,PSVR2 & a fall release of Spiderman 2.
