Atari pulls the plug on Atari VCS console manufacturing

What can only be summed up as one of the biggest failures when it comes to gaming consoles, the Atari VCS, is coming to an end, as Atari has decided to pull the plug. The company is said to have cancelled all of its "existing VCS manufacturing contracts", which means that after its current stock is sold out, it's unlikely that the company will make any more VCS consoles.

Not surprising. Im hoping they clearance out the remaining stock. I'd pick one up at that point.

Yeap, it was honestly not a terrible idea. Very similar to the Steam Deck in many senses, but the hardware that they had chosen was way too old and the software was at the very best half-baked.

It was a PC. I'm glad that they did 50 year anniversary collection for all platforms.

When I saw that, I knew it was over.

Great history.

And so we did my friend.

Probably the strangest retro console revival project to date Atari barely got it to launch in the first place and outside of a very niche crowd this had no appeal.

The 50th anniversaries collection is where it's at though for celebrating their history

Atari and strange console launches is practically a meme ongoing for 40 years.

That is a good change. Using AI just for code shouldn’t require disclosure.

LucasRuinedChildhood1d 17h ago (Edited 1d 17h ago )

The actual problem is when AI-generated in-game content or art is put into the game. Disclosures should revolve around the problem.

A programmer or QA using a tool like Copilot as a code helper to e.g. analyse code to help find the source of a bug, or help with a function, or write a unit or cucumber test is not a problem.

I feel like it'd be like having to disclose they used Google, as far as coding goes.
AI is pretty helpful for coding and accelerated work like rotoscope or audio processing.
ie Davinci Resolve has Magic Mask, Audio effects, and transcription that are technically "AI"

Id rather it be disclosed than not.
