From GI.biz: "Microsoft’s latest financials, and Phil Spencer’s subsequent comments during the Wall Street Journal Live event, felt like a shift in tone.
The big takeaway for some is how Microsoft, for the second quarter running, failed to hit its targets around Game Pass subscription growth.
I am reluctant to draw conclusions from results posted during the last six months. Not only has there been a significant lack of major titles, but it also covers the first full post-lockdown summer, when people actually went on holiday. It was inevitable video game targets were going to get missed, and Microsoft isn’t the only one to experience that."

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Bring out some damn first / second party games and they will start hitting those targets. People signed up on the promise of day one new releases from "Microsoft" and it only makes sense that if the games arent there... neither are the subs.
If Microsoft want more Game Pass subscriptions, they need more exclusive AAA games. How are they suppose to increase subscriptions if they don't release any noteworthy 1st party game in 2022?
Sony and Nintendo have a constant stream of games during the year... what the hell are Microsoft's 1st party doing? Sleeping on the job.
Like any subscription service (Netflix, Disney, Apple, HBO, etc), they need quality exclusive content...
Well Gamepass faces a problem on 3 fronts
1) The current inflation crisis has ppl reconsidering how they're gonna spend some money (See same news with PS+)
2) recognizable brand name 1st party games. Please release some known games...
3) What's the difference between Gamepass and Gamepass PC again? Even Sony with barely supporting the PS+ premium tier can still provide a difference between Extra and Premium.
Do you think there's a part of them that thought, arrogantly, that they could possibly get Game Pass on Sony and Nintendo devices by now but have failed to do it so now it's like "Shit, we ned to rely on our audience and our lacking first party games releasing day 1"
It's a lot different (and easier) to just take your backlog of games already made and give them to a potential new audience on PlayStation or the Switch. Having Halo streaming from Game Pass on the PS5 and Rare Replay on the Nintendo Switch would have given them more time to get things made for the future.
The mood has for sure changed. The positive that I see is that they delayed games to 2023 instead of releasing them unfinished like Halo infinite to increase short term subs. I think they see the value in long term quality. At least I hope they do.
