21 years ago, Capcom changed action games forever

21 years ago Capcom released one of the most groundbreaking action games of all time, and the genre would never be the same again.

Dante was so cool, he created his own sub genre of games. Loved the characters, the style, the action and the music. First game even almost has that Castlevania feel walking down the hallways of the castle with the bell sound in the background.

Only time I'd say that a bug in game development actually helped to create something great. Well, and Street Fighter combos.

Also, Dark Souls didn't start the souls genre of games. It was Demon Souls.

Pretty ironic to see that this game started out as an idea for Resident Evil 4. Ultimately the idea was rejected but was still completed and released as its own separate IP and went on to be a super successful series. One of those what-if scenarios that just happened to work out.

Absolutely unreal game, beat it on all difficulties, If i had to use a term, first souls like difficulty type game for me, Dont get too caught up, hit when you can get away dodge get another hit in etc....Also a bit more of a serious theme which i like, the later games get a bit more teenage if you will, but still good.

Capcom says it wants Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney to be 'core IPs' like Monster Hunter

Sorry if you were expecting Bionic Commando.

Actions speak louder than words. Show me a new Mega Man game that isn't a collection of games I played yesteryear. If they can churn out some kind of RE game every other year they can make a new Mega Man entry. It's not like it's known for its deep stories.

I can see DMC, but the others just weren't built for that without some major adjustments on how they're played.

If they make the right choices and right kinds of games, the Mega-Man IP could potentially be made into an animated film or streaming series like the success of Mario and Sonic. Surely that thought may have crossed their minds? Or am I being silly? I mean there is a lot more water to go under the bridge for them to even start considering that. But I used to be a big mega-man fan back in the day. I'd love to see it happen.

It’s being done on purpose just to destroy inafune . It’s some pride stuff on the inside .

blacktiger177d ago

all talk and if they launch it will cost $200

shinXseijuro177d ago

Just like the guys said . I’ll believe it when I see it . Even the shareholders are asking questions regarding Megaman . I don’t want to sound ludacris but I have a strong conviction that the heads at Capcom are purposely holding the Megaman IP down because of their grudge and spite towards inafune on some deeper Japanese honour code stuff . It’s deeper than we think . You can tell something isn’t right .

VersusDMC177d ago

Well i hope DMC is being worked on. Either a remake of 1 or 6 will do.

And bring back Megaman X. Either regular, command mission or make it a Metroidvania since silksong is so popular.
