Silent Hill: Townfall Announced, in Development by No Code and Annapurna Interactive

Konami has announced Silent Hill: Townfall! The game is being developed by No Code in conjunction with Annapurna Interactive.

Weird they chose a name that sounds a lot like Downpour

Lightning Mr Bubbles1289d ago

Cause it's probably the same quality as Downpour. Which is crap... That's what the Silent Hill 2 Remake looked like also. Like the developers of Silent Hill Homecoming and Silent Hill Downpour tried to make a Silent Hill 2 Remake.

The show was definitely underwhelming

Eonjay1289d ago

Don't know about the name but I found this project very interesting. The trailer was really well done and I can't wait for people to pick it apart for clues. I got real PT vibes from it. The desk with the portable tv was the same as the one the developer was designing and the TV that played the interview with the devs was the same tv the devs were playing PSOne on. And I was getting PT vibes.

Lightning Mr Bubbles1289d ago (Edited 1289d ago )

I have no idea about this one, it didn't show anything. But still... this was a horrible show of them trying to churn out as many convoluted piles of junk as they could and call them Silent Hill. Trust me, none of this stuff has anything to do, or feels anything like the original Silent Hill trilogy.

For the Silent Hill 2 remake, they completely botched the James Sunderland model, there is no way anyone who loved the original Silent Hill 2 could tell me they see James Sunderland in that "old fart". And if you can't even get James Sunderland right, then what chance do you have?

But the question is why? Why even try it with this version of Konami who hasn't made a good game in ages and has nothing... They have absolutely no talented developers, there is no way they can possible do a masterpiece like Silent Hill 2 justice. It's insulting to be quite honest.

The only thing that looked even remotely interesting was Silent Hill f, it was pretty grotesque, just the idea of the spores and growing the fungus or plants on you like that. Just the idea made me a bit itchy. I don't think it's got the potential to be one of my all time favs like Silent Hill 2 but it's a game that's on my radar at least. Even if it wasn't called Silent Hill, if it was called something totally different. It would of still got my attention.

CrimsonWing691289d ago

I mean, why don’t we wait to see the games before we fly off the handle and call it all junk?

After10Ben1289d ago

You're one of the only rational voices in this discussion today. I think it's premature to write of any of these games off until we know more. I'm intrigued to be honest. And I also prefer to keep a positive mindset even when I get disappointed. I tip my hat to you.

jznrpg1289d ago

Yeah what I saw looked good , we didn’t see enough to make a full judgement or anything but I’m happy with what was shown and they all have potential to be good . We haven’t had Silent Hill in forever so they are trying at minimum and all have potential .

shinoff21831289d ago

I though it looked pretty good. I bet they stay more true in this remake then square did for ff7 and ill appreciate that because thats what I wanted a true remake.

HeliosHex1289d ago

Wow three silent hills in development? Kind of strange.

monkey6021289d ago

Supposedly a 4th out there too

monkey6021289d ago

Stories Untold was excellent. I played very little of Observation so I cant speak about that but I'm optimistic about this team taking on a SH related side project

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio1d 15h ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing1d 13h ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster921d 14h ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit1d 14h ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing1d 13h ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster921d 11h ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Tanktopmaster921d 11h ago

Let me be clear. This is sarcasm

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg4d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

jwillj2k44d ago

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

CrimsonWing694d ago

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
