So about half the size of PlayStation but interesting to see MS figures vs shipped figures by Sony. Not sure why their is a big discrepancy?

darthv721301d ago

Vita maybe...? It shipped about 16m and was around during the 2013-2021 range (discontinued in 2019). MS may be factoring that in even though their pic only shows 4 & 5

VenomUK1301d ago (Edited 1301d ago )

63.7 million Xboxs sold between November 2013 and December 2021.
This includes the Xbox One/One X family and the Xbox Series S/X family.

Petebloodyonion1301d ago

probably because Sony doesn't call MS saying Hello here are our numbers of sold consoles for your database.

Eonjay1301d ago

Nearly everything about this statement seems false. They say Sony was the market leader for the last 20 years completely ignoring the Wii then say Nintendo is bigger as well. They are just making stuff up. We know how many PS4 and PS5 sold and it's no where near 150 million. If they are including something else that just more manipulation. Why do they have such a problem being straightforward. The CMA should ask them for a preakdown.

InUrFoxHole1300d ago

@Eonjay
For the same reason Sony is lying... all about pushing the brand forward my man.

Mr_Writer851300d ago

@Enojay

I wouldn't say the 150m is that far off.

117m PS4s
Around 24m PS5s sold is 21

So it isn't "no where near" 150m. It's not that far off.

BlackTar1871300d ago

Eonjay - 117 + 24 = 141

That is not way far off of 150 million. Why are you so angry anyways?

Microsoft now claiming to be the little guy that deserves a break, despite spending well over a decade insisting installed base numbers are a meaningless metric.

Vomit.

italiangamer1301d ago

Yeah the TRILLION dollar little guy LMAO they truly are the scum of the gaming world.

Abear211300d ago (Edited 1300d ago )

Yes, half a dozen 7/10 games are coming
Halo and Flight Sim should have been easy slam dunks and we see what happened

Zhipp1301d ago

MS's argument was that install base alone isn't an accurate metric for how healthy a business is doing. Here they're saying Sony beats them in every relevant metric -- install base included.

OptimusDK1300d ago

No it is just the oposite... SONY is saying that it is unfair that MS buys up to be lager - but still far below SONY.

SONY is the one whining here...

Microsoft you're a trillion dollar company you ain't no little guy and tbh unless COD is going to be a separate spinoff company independent of Activision you aren't winning unless money Is involved imo.

Hofstaderman1301d ago

Now they want to release these figures….lol.

Godmars2901301d ago

They have to in order to - try and - buy Activision.

Thing is, given its in hope of increasing install base, once they do they're very likely to become the thing they're saying they're not. Which is a monopoly.

Thing about that is - again - is that this may spur Sony or yet another 3rd party to make a COD clone to replace/compete with an Xbox-only COD.

NotoriousWhiz1300d ago

Even with Activision blizzard, Xbox will still be in 3rd place. It'll probably be a closer 3rd than last gen but still 3rd. And I hope this makes Sony bring back some other shooters like Socom.

JagX221301d ago

Not really a fresh story. Weil is the law firm that MS uses out of NYC and this was filed on Oct 11 when CMA said there needs to be a phase 2.

CMA has already replied to this document from Microsoft with their 'issues statement' on Oct 14: https://assets.publishing.s...

It was reported by gamesindustry.biz: https://www.gamesindustry.b...

RauLeCreuset1301d ago

Got a 404 error on the gamesindustry link, but I can vouch for the information having been out there. I commented on it 6 days ago, and Darth worked out that MS might be including Vita in the PS numbers.

It seems N4G likes to add periods at the end of URLs for some reason...

Both sources are not found, not the CMA report and not the Gameindustry page .

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio13d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing13d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit13d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing13d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
