The Callisto Protocol has 60 FPS mode

Studio confirms 60 FP performance mode.

camel_toad1307d ago (Edited 1307d ago )

I'm very happy to hear this but it should honestly be a standard these days.

rlow11307d ago

I agree as long as they give people choice. But the fact that a majority of the Titles don’t support 60 frames with the new systems is kind of ridiculous at this point.

REDGUM1307d ago

With what i've seen of this game so far, personally, I'd take a better graphics mode over performance. I totally understand those who prefer the higher frame rate but i'm abit more of a graphics whore myself :).

That said, I loved the 60fps performance mode in the re released Uncharted 4 so who knows which way I'll swing in the end.

MrVux0001307d ago

I think i will do what i did with most games like God of War. Play the game first on ''Fidelity Mode'' and replay it on ''Performance Mode''.

GamingSinceForever1307d ago

For me the loss in fidelity isn’t nearly as significant as the loss in feel between 60 and 30 fps.

moomoo3191307d ago

Agreed. Horizon FW was dookie till they patched it lol

Neonridr1307d ago

only bonus of having a PC as well. I don't have to choose, I can have both.

Ashunderfire861307d ago

True true but I’m a console gamer first. I like gameplay and innovation the most, not just performance and graphics.

Neonridr1307d ago

@Ashunderfire8 - oh for sure, I love being able to sit on my sofa and enjoy the game on my 65" instead of playing at my desk, but it's nice having the freedom to choose I guess.

Shiore2u1306d ago (Edited 1306d ago )

@Ashunderfire86 Lmao. What innovation? What gameplay? Consoles are closed platforms. Developers and gamers are beholden to the narrow visionary hustler whims of soulless corporations. Everything that's become a standard trend (genres, software, hardware, etc.) has had it's start on PC because there's no arbitrary restrictions impeding individuals from being innovative or having fun.

MrVux0001306d ago

If you chug out enough money, of-course. PC always had the advantage of flexibility (i.e. having more graphical options).

The consoles themselves are slowly but surely adopting that as well (having options to choose resolution / RT / performance / fidelity modes), and i would not be surprised if get even more options as we go further into the future of gaming.

I’ll do 60fps if the only thing taking a hit is the resolution, and the rest of the graphics, effects, etc remain unchanged, but if there is a degradation in graphics, I’ll take the fidelity mode.

Profchaos1307d ago

Since getting a very TV (which I understand is a luxury for many) I kind of want to see more 40 fps modes that can take the higher graphics settings up to a high performance.

But in spite of that I really like having 60 fps options

Ashunderfire861307d ago

40 frames is really the sweet spot.

CaptainHenry9161307d ago (Edited 1307d ago )

I hope the PC version is optimized well and that we can play it in native 4K 60fps with Raytracing turned on.

Angyobangyo1307d ago

Hey, Gotham Knights, are you taking notes?

SullysCigar1307d ago

Plague Tale devs: "What wizardry is this"?!

MrVux0001307d ago

To be fair, Plague Tale developers are a small team compared to Gotham Knight's one.

However, i do like to think they will include a 60 FPS mode with future patches.

SullysCigar1307d ago

^ I hope so too. They must have made loads from the first game and they had that game as a starting point for the sequel, so I couldn't help being a bit disappointed.

Fingers crossed for a patch.

darkrider1307d ago

They can't because there a machine holding back others. With a potato gpu and slowpoke memory ... They went with parity...

CantThinkOfAUsername1306d ago

Different games. Different systems. Different features. Apples to oranges.

"Be creative 99% of the time" – Glen Schofield on how creativity can help fix AAA industry woes

The Callisto Protocol director thinks the solution involves the right people, the right timing, and perhaps a little bit of AI

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman30d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.

Yeah this isn't true, game was garbage no way it sold that much. Seen a lot of posts saying he was confusing it with player numbers, not sold copies. It went on discount really fast and was also on Plus and GP.

It wasn’t a classic or anything but still a good game. I enjoyed it personally.

These days it feels like if a game isnt brilliant it must therefore be terrible and everyone hates on it.

bsingle40269d ago

I hear ya, what's wrong with a decent game?

CrashMania269d ago

Maybe I was a bit harsh there, it's decent now, but didn't gel too well with me, I played it pre-release so it didn't help. I should have just stuck to pointing out the possible inconsistency lol.

Cacabunga269d ago

Too much for a terrible game blablabla.. thanks to all the fans who still believe and support SP games. The game isn’t perfect but waaaaay beyond average!!!

The_Hooligan269d ago (Edited 269d ago )

I agree. Back in the day, I played so many 7 and 8 rated games that were amazing. Hell, even some of the 6 rated games I played were good too. People forget that when someone reviews it, it is an opinion of that one person. Always trust your own instinct and give it a try. Now a days you can see videos, walkthroughs or someone live streaming the game to see for yourself if the gameplay is to your liking or not.

neutralgamer1992268d ago

Exactly if it's not 9/10 it's garbage. Back dying PS1, 2 and even 3 days there were some very good games which got 7/10. None of these games below got anywhere near 9/10

Singularity
Enslaved
Def jam
God hand
Dynasty warriors
Psi Ops
Freedom fighters
The punisher
Marvel ultimate alliance series
Red faction
Dark watch
Saints row
Binary domain
Spec Ops the line
Earlier yakuza games
Fracture
Time shift
Wet
Etc,,,,

Really? I didn't buy it but I got it for free from Humble Bundle and man, it really wasn't that bad at all. I was expecting premium garbage from the way people spoke about it. Sure the combat isn't Deadspace level but it was sure satisfying melee-ing them to death. I think they just tried to be Deadspace without being Deadspace but they really wanted to be Deadspace. Overall though the game wasn't nearly as terrible as people make it out to be.

darthv72268d ago

For a while, the game was deeply discounted at retail. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that it sold more when it was under $20. I found my copy for $10 at Best Buy.

DivineHand125269d ago

I actually played this game when it was added to ps plus. It was a 7/10 experience. If I played it at launch when it was 30 fps i would give it a 6/10.

True horror video game fans would probably give it an extra point.

BlackCountryBob269d ago

Makes me think a bit of Days Gone that it overall had good sales, but was steeply discounted very quickly and the majority of sales would have been for a much lower price so much less profitable than it would have been (assuming this doesn’t include me as a sale when I got it on PS+ but haven’t downloaded it, just added to library). I was still seeing Day One versions for sale new in the wrapper until this time last year.

TheGamersDojo269d ago

And this number is considered a failure!?
