Valkyrie Elysium Demo: Preview - D-Pad Academy

"Well, here we are. Finally. We get another installment in the Valkyrie series since, what, 20 or so years? With the release of Valkyrie Elysium only a couple weeks away, Square Enix has graced us with a demo so we could get a feel for its action-packed sequel. How do the beginning couple hours look and feel so far? I’ve dug into the demo to let you all know just that! Let’s get started!"

How long would you say it takes to beat the demo? Gonna try to squeeze in the time for a completion tonight or tomorrow.

LiViNgLeGaCY1214d ago

I played it on and off over two days. I'd say I landed somewhere between 3-4 hours. There's two different sidequests they give you to do, as well.

That’s a generous chunk! I’m tag teaming this w the boy. He likes the combat too.

Elda1214d ago (Edited 1214d ago )

An hour & a half. 2hrs top.

VersusDMC1214d ago

Very underwelming demo. Colours looked drab and grey. Framerate was meh on my PS5. Not for me...

P_Bomb1214d ago (Edited 1214d ago )

Uh oh. I’ve never tried any of the Valkyrie Profile series before this one. Speaking of demos, did you try Wo Long?

VersusDMC1214d ago

I am judging it on it's own and not against past entries. Played the first one only. The Second one on PS2 did look good though.

Wulong was good. Couldn't beat the boss of the first level though. Parrying isn't for me(not good at it) and it seems essential for bosses. And the health item takes too god damn long!!

It's on gamepass day one so i'll check it out again if i have nothing else to play when it comes out.

LiViNgLeGaCY1214d ago

I DO agree with you about the colors. Very grey, nothing stood out in that respect. I'm hoping some of the later chapters change it up a bit.

Elda1214d ago

I enjoyed the gameplay but the graphics aren't that great & the colors were drab & grey.

H91214d ago

I was heavily surprised by the demo, the gameplay was quite nice and fun, something that I don't associate with Square Enix lately, unfortunately it has clear performance issues, the game hardly ever reached 60 FPS on PS5, in the prologue the frames would go up and down that you can notice the hiccups, the first chapter was mainly indoors so the frame rate didn't jump up and down much but it wasn't 60 FPS at all

P_Bomb1214d ago (Edited 1214d ago )

Interesting, I’m not that far admittedly. Thx for the input VersusDMC, Elda, H9 and Legacy. I wonder if the final version might offer a capped framerate even if it runs a little lower. Like at 40fps? Maybe bump the res.

Rockstar launches official marketplace for mods

Rockstar has launched an official marketplace for "every server and every player" to buy mods: Cfx Marketplace.

I wonder how much of this isn't just taken work of others who have modded for free.

Edit: Also, great way for R* to take popular ideas and build them into GTAVI based on demand.

fr0sty10h ago

What I see happening here is, R* is going to ban mods in GTA6 UNLESS you buy them from the marketplace and R* then gets a cut of that sale.

ActualWhiteMan12h ago

Ah, perfect timing with them taking down the Bully online fan mod. Greedy a$$ company.

Christopher10h ago

It's okay as long as they get a cut of the money.

fr0sty10h ago

Expect R* to force it on you.

Snookies124h ago

Yep, right there with you. I'll happily donate to a mod creator if it looks really cool, or if I enjoy it. But expecting payment up front? Nope, not touching it.

IanTH9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.

Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/servers.

I have to guess to a degree yes. It'd be pretty hard to "force" paid mods for single player when modding files locally on your own machine, but much easier for servers they'll control. So perhaps this is their soft launch ahead of GTA6 online and they'll clamp down more tightly on non-official servers going forward? Ever since they've become a 1 or 2 property studio, I haven't really cared much for Rockstar stuff, so I'm not entirely up on everything surrounding this. Sounds like it has the potential to be problematic further down the line, but right now fairly easy to ignore...I think lol.

Kotick Made $155 million from MS in the buyout, the little b*tch needs to stop whining. Thanks to this Microslop deal and massive industry consolidation thousands upon thousands of devs and other workers lost their livelihoods. This greedy piggie pervert needs shut up and f-off.
