Well good on some of the public to grow some pebbles and realize they have been bent over by M$ this whole time. With a such high percent of faulty hardware through out the yrs. I cant understand why gamers go through 2-3 xbox360 consoles and seem like its their fault for playing the damn thing for more than 2 hours. As a consumer I have a low tolerance to shotty purchases.

Uhm scratching discs only occured when you have a T/S DVD drive, which misses the rubber bumpers around the lens. Those drives aren't used since 2006 anymore. After that only Hitachi, BenQ and now Lite On

I believe that when you buy a product you put your loyalty into that company's hands. If you buy a piece of technology that breaks on you, you should

1.) Return it and or report the problem so the company can fix that specific problem.

2.) Keep buying that product and (as a metaphor) keep on taking it up the hind quarters.

The people who would choose door number 2 are simply

1.) Dumb, and uneducated

2.) Scared, or have money to burn

I have never had problems with discs being scratched; they used to get snapped right down the middle though. You could hear them crunching. Lost CoD2, R6V and orange box to that. Although it stopped after I put it on its bottom (rather than on its side).

oh ok well i guess il go try and shut those ps3 fanboys out there lobster, since mine does it constantly. so my hdd is fried. i broke my gamedisc by accident and though it would be ok if i taped it together again and put it in my disk slot drive but it wouldnt read it or spit it out anymore. i also put a knife in but my ps3 wouldnt work after that. so i decided to put it in the microwave for 10 seconds thinking it might jump start it. but then it wouldnt turn on anymore.

then i decided to buy a new one and chainsaw it in half with all the frustation i had with this sony product.

PS3 Software is decent at best, we know this to be true, its plain simple but not ground breaking say vs NXE.

Both put out 95% of the same games with lame differences like shadowing or color or brightness differences, and people act as if there is a leg to stand on to defend their console because of that.

I have a ps3. I love it. I love the games. but my bd drive quit working. it is in warranty but since I have no reciept sony will cahrge me 150 dollars for a refurbished one. I will not be getting it fixed because I DO NOT want a referbished one. I dont care if it is factory certified. I will buy one more brand new one. if it does the same thing I will not buy another. Most people I know have had at least 3 or 4 360s due to hardware faliure. They all say well microsoft fixed it for free. Who cares. for one thing who knows how long it will last. and for another thing it is damn inconveinient and no other consumers in any other market would put up with it. so why do 360 fans? dont tell me its the games. I have seen the games and I am not impressed. "oh but dude 360 versions are way better than ps3 versions." BS!! that is a thing of the past and you ALL know it. But I digress. Yes millions of people are impressed with the games. I am inclined to believe they are the ones that dont bother to see what the other guys have to offer. I mean come on. Halo? I have played it enough to know that it was a terrible game. but how many people jump at the chance to defend it.

All systems have there problems it takes a few SKU's to work out the bugs in them, Microsoft rushed a system and now thy will learn a lesson when the next gen comes out. Honestly they should have held back a year to run a quality check on the systems. Ps3 and 360 are two great systems and people bashing them or having fanboy wars over wich is better just gets boring. And for those who move their consoles when the disc is spining are just tards, I mean it takes a few to abuse something. They should be sued. console arguments aside. Gaming like anything else is pretty much a matter of personal taste. but to rush a product to market before its ready just shows me that microsoft cares more about they're wallet than they do about they're customers, they're products, and even they're reputation. And I cant see how they have not suffered because of it. I dont want microsoft to dissapear because competition is always good(for us anyway). I just truly hope they learn something from it all.

MS isn't making people buy their rushed product. 360 fans may get mad, but the RROD, scratched disks, "bricked systems", and faliure to read games are well documentd with this product. If you buy, then you are concenting to the purchase. GET YOUR REFUND FROM THE STORE AND SHUT UP ABOUT LAWSUITS....you know the rissk you are taking.

I actaully fell sorry for Microsoft, I love my PS3 but its kinda sad to see others (360 owners) to have a nexgen console be taken from them with the rrod and theirs games getting scratched. Well everybody buy a PS3. I'm gonna have to tell my friend to get one before something happens to him.

SALES!!!!really i dont care i just like to see the people who take the time to me a RROD360 N4G user id..LOL talk about no life :0 ....no but really...this does happen and it does suck. i work at gamestop and i see these disc daily...LaZer burn basically...one person tried to tell me they opened a new sealed game and it had these rings on it when i opened it...ahahha.....but this does suck and im glad it hasn't happened to me....haven't had rrod yet either....but when i do ill take my extended warranty back to gamestop and get a new one since im there 5 out 7 days anyways....but now that the new Mother board is in the arcade...ill just get a new one...my current system has no HDMI. i guess im one of the lucky few who have'nt had a issue....but im sure my day will come

The problem is easy to fix. Put a better DVD drive in... which they did. Whenever they refurbish a machine, replace the scratching drives (seems like they did not). And then lastly - replace free of charge the scratched DVD's. Seems like in some cases they did - but only after the customer went ballistic. Bad show there. People don't just launch a suit like this with no reason. MS seems to hire baboons for their tech support in general. Just phone them for Windows tech support. It goes like: "check the power, erm ok... try re-installing Windows"

The problem is if Micrsoft gets sued and this guy wins imagine what else people will be suing for. So you gonna sue Nintendo cause the graphics are on par with a PS2 even thoe its a new system. So you gonna sue Sony cause you cannot login into Home and the problem with Socom. Yes the 360 has problems so does everything else did people sue Apple when the Iphone had problems. The thing is Microsoft has high priced lawyers and they will make this guy look like a fool in court, how about I sue Microsoft cause Vista was crap.

... I brought a Premium XBox 360 in December 2005 - it lasted 15 months... By the time it Red ringed M$ had decided to admit fault and offer a Free replacement cover...

I sent it into M$ and asked the guy on the phone to fix MY Xbox 360 and return it to me because although it was 15 moths old, exterally it looked perfect. (I always look after my stuff and didn't want someone elses abused console.)

The guy LIED to me and assurred me i'd receive mine back in a month...
It came a month later and to my chagrin was someone else's console! It had small scratches on the top of the case, the rubber feet were worn away, and there was DIRT - not dust - BLACK DIRT in the connector slots at the rear!!!

I phoned up M$, they said, doe sit work? I said yeah. They said: well, we won't change it all the time its working...

I decided to sell it on ebay and just fork out for a new one.

ONE WEEK later M$ rings me up - aparrently, the guy i'd sold my pre-owned fixed 360 to had Red ringed!

They didn't believe he had brought the 360 from me and thought he'd stolen it! I told them no. Then they started harassing me! Ringing me up every couple of nights and asking me to provide them with the consoles serial code?! WHY WOULD I HAVE THE CODE>?

Why would i write down the serial code to a replacement console i'd only had in my house a few days before selling it on ebay?

Anyway, brought myself a second (now my 3rd) premium 360.

The DVD drive started makiing really load noises after 11 months, (just out of shop warranty - 12 months shop coverin the UK)It was so loud i couldn't hear my games or movies even with the sound turned up. I tried to get it fixed, but M$ told me it wasn't covered. Only RRoD was covered!

I brought an XBox 360 Elite. One month later the Infra red port stopped working! I couldn't use my media remote!

I took it back to the shop and they replaced it with my second elite, (My 5th Xbox 360 to date!) which is so far woking...

Its out of warranty now, being 13 months old... hope it doesn't break!

But though all that, i've never had disc sratching... YET! LOL

My PS3 on the other hand is working great, although i don't really use it for gaming, only Blu-Rays (I'm waiting for Heavy Rain!)

Interestingly, my Xbox 360 has scratched two Gears1 discs, but not in this way. I thought it was the same design flaw, but it can't be, because it doesn't make a circular scratch but a very small white line going from the center outward. This seems to be linked to the map Subway; I was playing Subway both times when the disc scratched. Thankfully they have the disc replacement program... and I just don't play Subway anymore.

I don't see any reason that they should have had to make a slot-loading drive. As long as they post a warning not to flip the console with a disc inside, and as long as they make the tray-load as reliable as it can be, that should be enough. Whether or not they did so, I don't know. But it's ridiculous for people to force a company to make something absolutely perfect. If people don't like it, they have the freedom not to buy it.

I read the article further to see if they meant having it vertical will employ some high risk, but it sounds like people are actually tilting the console from flat to standing while a game is running. Most complaints I see seem to have the same deal...so I ask again what in the hell are people attempting?

I went on Live to see if my friends have had this happen and all I got was Red Ring comments. Not one disc scratch problem in the several years they been using the thing. This is a sizable group I sent the messages to.

I just find it odd, but that may be because I havent had it happen at all.

On a side note, my PS3 makes a god awful ruckus while laying flat but its quiet as can be while standing. I notice this mostly while a bluray movie is in. It's not constant, but it still worries me. Any ideas?

... the 360 is the better gaming console, period. Better online community, online communication is LIGHT YEARS ahead of PS3. The only reason PS3 isn;t completely DEAD is because it's a decent blu-ray player. Come on people, get a CLUE.

Stop buying games for my 360 and let it sit there and collect dust. One day I may plug it back in and play some of my old games. Probably once warranty expires and I can open it up and apply the solution to this problem that I found on one of those xbox modding sites. I guess if you lay it flat and avoid breathing on it you may get lucky. I can nudge my ps3 while disk is in it and guess what? NO scratches. Wow what a concept!
