Mine got the "DRE" on a brand new copy of Mass effect.
Took out the disc to see what was wrong and it was covered in scratch's.

360 FTL.

dannyhinote_136359d ago

My friend's Xbox 360 chewed up MY copy of NHL 09. :(

The 360 doesn`t scratch discs! (sarcasm)

God, that systems hardware is pure sh!t. (no sarcasm)

HighDefinition6359d ago (Edited 6359d ago )

This is why people don`t believe you.

Here`s YOUR bio.

"I enjoy gaming on my XBOX®360. It has all the great exlusives I need, as well as multiplatform titles that are far superior than the ps3's. Grand theft auto IV for example:

XBOX®360 (720p, 2xAA, Exclusive Downloadable Content, Gaming with developers weekend)
PS3 (640p (LOL), NO AA, laggy online, no one has mics, no achievements)

Hmm.. and people think its still a debate which system is better? LOL, the answer is obvious, at least obvious for someone with an IQ greater than that of a 4th grader (AKA anybody but PStards)."

Impressive, you were obviously born full of win!

BTW, Just wondering........since the 360 FAR MORE CAPABLE then the PS3, where`s a 360 title that looks even in the league of... Killzone2? That`s always a toughy for people like you to answer, have fun.

DiabloRising6359d ago

Lobster deflecting in some pathetic attempt to defend a piece of hardware is sad. But but but, my friend's old systems did it too!

Guess what, that doesn't validate what is happening now, especially considering Microsoft KNEW about the problem and willingly CHOSE not to fix it.

It has nothing to do with how good a system the 360 is, it has everything to do with screwing consumers. Something NO ONE should stand for.

chrisnick6359d ago

lobster.......don't be simple.....ps3 getting the "yellow light of death".....even if u did own a ps3.....ur yellow light would b the first i've heard of,and as such, just helps u prove that ur part of the one percent of failed ps3s.....ur attempt at trashing reliable hardware has failed.......and when did u get ur xbox....yesterday?

Gerry Mark II6359d ago (Edited 6359d ago )

Lobster Loser the PS2 had a 5% failure rate for the disc drives get your facts straight, it’s mostly like 2-3% now, unlike the 33% failure rate for your "Next Gen" console, or 68% with the launch console.

I can't believe your comparing a last generation console with a current gen one.... Does that mean the Xbox 360 is of last gen material? That’s what you’re saying right now.

Next you’re going to start comparing the NES with the 360. If you start doing that then your just proving how sh1t the 360 is, you’re already starting with your comparisons with the PS2.

ONYX7376359d ago

It must be somthing with mass effect same thing happend to me. that was the only game my 360 scratched. never got a chance with my first 360 it rrod on me.

Aclay6359d ago

@GiantEnemyLobster,

There's a difference between the 360's hardware issues and the small percentage of PS2's that had disc drive problems and really I don't think that they can even be compared.

Sony didn't knowingly release the PS2 already aware of it's hardware problems like Microsoft did with the 360. The PS2's disc reading problems were resolved with future PS2 models and the PS2 did not have a failure rate no where near as high as the Xbox 360.

Microsoft's failure of going through the proper quality control for their own console and releasing it already aware of it's problems when it wasn't even ready just goes to show how scared Microsoft was of going head to head with the PS3 and Wii at the same time during 2006.

I had a PS2 that experienced disc reading problems while my PS2 was still under warranty. I sent it to Sony and I got it back, and since then that same PS2 works like new and it was over 5 YEARS ago when it happened. A lot of people that have sent their 360's for repair ONCE have not had it to last for over a year without dying. I sent my PS2 ONCE and since then it's lasted over 5 years going on 6 years with No disc reading issues whatsoever. Like I said, the PS2 disc reading problems can hardly be compared to the Disc Scratching of the 360 that Microsoft supposedly already knew of before they released the Xbox 360.

PimpHandHappy6359d ago

you didnt have to send in your PS2 to get fixed and that was the only problem it had B4 they went with the slim! So STFU and take it like a man

what a chump response

NaiNaiNai6359d ago (Edited 6359d ago )

let me guess you tried to move your 360 while the disk was in. hmmm, sounds like what any pc dvd drive would do. you fail. and for anyone who says that the ps2 issues where small. thats complete BS. the system s sells went way up because of the shody hardware they had, plus the fact that cheap ass warranty. you get it fixed once for 50$, then if it screws up again, your not covered anymore.. yea that works perfect. not to mention, i ran into way more people who have had the ps2 DRE, then the 360 RROD. i have now run into one person, and his was a release system. you sony fanboys are pathetic, you say support a system that is good. yet your ps3 still fails, the ps2 had a massive DRE fail rate. and your psp systems, brick, and have horrible lines on the screen, yea great way to be hypocrits.

360 scratched my PS3 and the poor weakling couldn't handle it! *cry*

Why o why6359d ago

still no answer.......;)

Nobody (sane) can answer that one with a straight face. Id even add that DEMO gt5p, the tumble weeds r rolling and the crickets doing that thing they do when there is ........ SILENCE

HighDefinition6359d ago (Edited 6359d ago )

***crickets***

candystop6359d ago (Edited 6359d ago )

Let's wait until it's released before we start claiming victory. KZ2 could be the prettiest game this gen but I wouldn't put to much faith in GG. You can walk around with a chip on your shoulder all you want but until it's out your nothing more then talk just like them. Gears2 holds the console crown until something takes it out, and I have a feeling your arrogance is going to sneak up on you and hurt your ego. We've been here time and time again but yet and still you guys get c0cky every time you get a game that appears to be your savior lol.

Edit above hd "crickets": What an ahole lol

Why o why6359d ago (Edited 6359d ago )

dont be such a spoilsport. HD asked a question which was left unanswered.....like for ages. We've seen the killzone2 graphics. Yep im sure one day they will be surpassed but at this point in time it has not been surpassed and its not even finished yet. oh by the way...stop listening to the media; i say that because the ps3 doesn't need a saviour. No console is dying out here (no pun) and if you truly believe the ps3 needs saving, even though the 360 only pulled ahead of it recently on home turf (NA) then you really have been listening to the hit loving naysayers for way too long.

*remember people blu ray is dead because 'x' said so*;)

BWS19826359d ago

What crown? Under who's authority to hand out such a crown. Everytime (no sarcasm, I mean this), EVERYTIME, I read a fanboy's drivel, it's some spattering of bias based on..... I have no clue, rumors or opinions, I can't make it out. Where do you lemmings get this stuff? The beta for KZ2 is out, people seem to love it, Uncharted looks phenomenal, and you are still wearing those glasses shaped like a tunnel. Wow.

ThanatosDMC6359d ago

I hope M$ loses a lot of money so that later consoles from them would be better.

chasuk086358d ago

My new xbox 360 scratched my Halo 3 but I did move the console lol Shouldnt happen though

tda-danny6358d ago

Gears2 is the best looking game?

Have you played MGS4 or Uncharted? Both came out before gears2 and blow it away. I've played and wrapped all 3 games, and gears doesn't hold a candle to them, let alone have the 'crown'.

Get Real...

negative6358d ago

People who have PS3 and no 360 are not real gamers. They're fanboys. Real gamers own 360s. Better controller, better online community, better online communication, better GAMES, etc etc.

You're a clown if you only own a PS3. Bottom line. Enjoy your blu-ray player.

read disc error6358d ago (Edited 6358d ago )

was when someone accidentally kicked the console.

I brought it back and got a free replacement copy.

love all these sony fanboys with their manufactured horror stories. RROD? MS fixes or replaces the console free of charge. Disc scratched? it's probably your fault and if you play your cards right you can get a replacement for free.

BWS19826358d ago

The console shouldn't break in the first place, why so forgiving? What happens after 3 years? What happened to the idea of a "lifelong purchase"? You only buy a product with a lifespan of 3 years? It shouldn't come to the point of giving up your system for a matter of weeks every few months because it's faulty, not that that happens to all, but it can to many, and that's the point. And as far as other defaults, disc scratching, etc...why chance it yet again, why spend the time worrying instead of playing?....the bottom line, the ultimate end game in this stupid debate, is it's a faulty system (with some great games), and has far too many defects to be passed off again and again and again with a load of "so what, do this" sentiments, get over that fact and stop being a PR spinner for MS.

Jock6359d ago

someone should just sue them for making the 360 in general..

jams_shop6359d ago

That's odd I haven't have any of my games scratch... Oh wait I have PS3.

Miraak82 6359d ago

yep good ol blu ray discs that can go threw hell and back and still won't get scratched

GiantEnemyLobster6359d ago

Now microsoft probably feels like Sony, how they got sued for that whole dualshock 2 deal, hahaha.

Gerry Mark II6359d ago

Lobster get your facts straight, Sony and Microsoft both got sued for the Dualshock 3 (not 2) and the Xbox controller.

Microsoft decided to settle out of court, but Sony decided to fight it and lost.

Phoenix Wright pwns your arse.

Oner6359d ago

Amazing how much pertinent information gets omitted around here...

GiantEnemyLobster6359d ago (Edited 6359d ago )

Do you see what you just said? Microsoft and Sony get sued for the DUALSHOCK 3??? Idiot, the case started in 2002, 6 years before the Dualshock 3 came out. Jesus christ you're a moron.
http://immr.client.sharehol...

Oh, and like you said, and Microsoft was smart enough to settle out of court, unlike stubborn ol' Sony kept on fighting it until they eventually lost LOL. Epic fail by Sony.

GiantEnemyLobster6359d ago

While Sony was continuing to get sued for the Dualshock 2, When they released the PlayStation 3, instead of the DS3 they had that SixAxis crap.

Their reasoning? "Rumble is last gen!!!111"

The real reason? "We're getting sued up our arse!!"

Um, can we have news that isn't from a week ago?

GiantEnemyCrab6359d ago

Doesn't matter. You can submit this same story right now and it will get approved again.

caladbolg7776359d ago

Because the story was relevant a week ago. It's relevant now, and it will be relevant in a week. After that? Probably still relevant unless 360s magically stop eating game discs.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
