I think it shows how quickly the tides are changing being not too long ago Insomniac was publicly stating you'd only ever find Spiderman on a PlayStation, and now they're commenting on the PC release.

It was like 5 years ago.... You do know how long that is in the business world right?

MadLad1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

It was less than 4, but move the goal post if you want.
This game was stated to never leave PlayStation by the developers themselves, yet here we are.

We all know the exclusivity windows will grow smaller and smaller.

I keep telling people's we're only just seeing Sony openly pushing into the PC market. We're right around the corner of seeing exclusives hit PC within 6-12 months. If not some being day one.

mkis0071393d ago

All pure conjecture considering the windows arent going any one direction. Days gone was the quickest release I believe but that was because of how poorly it was recieved on playstation ( to me it was great).

Even if you were right, you got a ways to go until the window shrinks to under 2 years.

MadLad1393d ago

@mkis

"You don't know what you're talking about because nobody knows Sony's future plans, but it will definitely be at 2 years for a good while".

I still hold the window will dramatically shrink in a short period, being it has been just a short period they registered an official Steam page and straight out bought a studio that makes PC ports, and openly stated they are going full force into the PC space, and are even now concentrating on PC related hardware.

''We're right around the corner of seeing exclusives hit PC within 6-12 months. If not some being day one.''

That's never going to happen and there's a simple reason for that.
PlayStation is Sony's golden goose, it's their most profitable division they own, not the movie branch, or their other electronics branch nor their insurance/creditcards branch. They don't have a trillion dollar company behind them to back them up so they gotta take care of their baby at all costs meaning they won't ever release their games day one on PC and risk losing the majority of sales which are produced by games sold for the console and also losing a bunch of fans.
An example, Horizon sold around 18mil on PS4 and 2mil or so on PC same goes for most of those PS/PC games. They spent money on companies dedicated to make PC ports to make extra income but that won't ever replace the amount of profits they get from their PS platform.
1 yr minimum I'd say and that's pushing it. If they're willing to mess all that up and destroy the brand, I'll be the 1st one to tell you that Sony f'ed it all up and the PS brand is no more.

MadLad1393d ago

@aloy

I didn't say every game would be day one. I predict some games would be day one. And you saying it may be within one year literally restates something I said in the exact same post.

And Sony putting games on PC doesn't kill their brand, despite the narrative you're trying to create. It means more people are buying their games; thus strengthening it.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing35d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9235d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit35d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing35d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9235d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
