I was considering it and had one preordered but the Steam page is underwhelming and nothing I want really that’s not on PS or Switch except Baldurs Gate and it is coming to consoles at some point so I passed . I know I could resell it for a few hundred more $’s but I figured 1 person that actually wants it could get it earlier than expected .

I don't understand why Sony and Microsoft didn't tap to this huge market, where Nintendo got 100%. The portable got huge demand just look at the switch an extremely underpowered and dated machine that still sells huge numbers. Why? There isn't another choice

It most certainly is a backlog killer. Older games from around 5-10 years ago are amazing on the small screen. Been playing Devil May Cry 5, Batman Arkham Origins (only Arkham not finished), Outer Worlds, Sunset Overdrive, and tons of indys.

Valve likes to advertise "It's a PC" and that's true, but it's also a console, and it's the console part that makes it so amazing. All the greatness of a PC with the simplicity of a console.

But even that misses what makes it so special. Runs perfectly using SD cards, the community support so you get with hacking, tuning, etc., Valve WANTS you to hack and experiment and this attitude makes it totally unique. No more Microsoft nagging you endlessly to upgrade to 11 since you're the advertising stooge using *their* software.

Wished I have Deck selling in my region.
My only alternative is Aya or OneXPlayer Mini with 5800U and it's over a thousand buck here.

I was going to buy a steam deck but my current work required more. So Hopefully near future that’ll change

I never thought about the steam deck that way. Realistically, I should just make myself play everything on my pc but I suppose owning a steam deck might actually make it more likely to play certain kinds of games

I kept buying games on steam over the years with the intention of playing them on my laptop, but found it uncomfortable, even when plugging it to a tv. Not having to plug anything into a TV and just sitting down with something powerful enough to play games I enjoy actually makes me want to play. I honestly didn't think there was much hope after VITA but Switch and Deck is proving otherwise.
