Tech doesnt appreciate with age so im not sure why they think this is a wise move. Perhaps they should just make a quest 3 and sell it at those prices… but what do i know?

Hard to defend this move aside from greed.
Usually price goes down with time or a better version is offered for the same price. Now it’s basically a price hike because Meta wants to charge more.

Let’s hope that consumers answer properly by not buying the headset at that price.

Has this ever happened? A company raising the price of 2 year old hardware by $100 without any improvements is wild....good luck with that.

Saw this on VR sites. Lol. Greed. Those investors were like, "stop subsidizing to get gamers. Take their money." That's not a good look.

They're just making PS VR 2 look more and more like the one to get even if it comes out at $499. If PS VR 2 is $399, it's the headset to get. It'll have the tech, the power and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd parties to back it up. That's not even counting over 25 years of franchises to draw from.

This probably has to do with the removal of the Facebook account link and Meta no longer having an immediate reason for investors to subsidize the cost.

100 USD price hike does not seem justified. No change to the hardware. Normally prices get cheaper with time, this is an odd one.

Glad I got mine at $299 last year. I'm hoping PSVR2 is priced at $300-$350 to take more Market share from Oculus. I prefer to have a proven game company pushing VR gaming than social media gurus.

I don't see this price hike going over well or lasting long, sales will falter and they will revert it back to the original prices. This is just a test like when MS tried to increase the Xbox live price..failed badly.

I think they are just looking to launch quest 3 early next year ,if they tell everyone quest 2 will be $399 next year they will sell existing quest 2 stock quick before price increase then launch quest 3 at $449 too making it look more attractive to the consumer being only $50 more

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
