simple 5 wouldve sufficed. I dont care about crazy box arts I like the simple ones.

so the guy took it upon himself to put together some fanart box art. Capcom saw it and did something similar. Really, they don't own him a dime...it's their game. They didn't hire him to do sh*t.

Someone did the exact same thing with the Dark Knight DVD case. They even came up with the idea for a slip cover that would be clean and then the inside would be "jokerized". Looky looky, they did exactly that for the official release.

Unless this guy actually drew the art work then he was stealing from capcom in the first place. They just capitalized in on his mashing together of their property.

And this is why I look down on user-created content. You can make whatever you want, but others can profit from your work and you can't do squat. The least Capcom can do is give DeathspawnII a free copy of RE5 as a sign of good faith.

Well, to be honest, game creators tend to have made the box art way way way early on. I did work experience last year at lionhead and they had already done the box art for Fable 2, so there's a chance that they had actually already done it. Besides, that picture of them back to back (well, almost) was always likely to be the box art so just because someone put it on a cover before them doesn't mean capcom copied it ffs. Besides, I actually think this 'deathspawn' vision of the box art is better than Capcoms so he should hardly be that bothered. If you remember,people were taking all of the GTA IV art and putting it on a mock up and the only thing that wasn't the same was the order that the pictures were actually in come the final retail box art. When there's only one picture to get right, like in this case, it's not hard for the two to end up so similar.

Deathspawn's is better.

The guy who made it had no copyright over the image, so he isn't gonna get anything out of it. Big deal.

If I was him, I'd be happy. That means Capcom actually LOOKED at my mock cover and thought it would suffice as proper box art.

Anyway, there won't be anything done to change things, life will continue, and we get our brand new Resident Evil.

deathspawn cover looks alot better.

the deathspawn cover is messy. capcom have edited things out, like the machete.

capcom also added the shape of the african continent in the background. instead of that vague blur in the background of deathspawns image.

So capcoms version is simple, bold and effective. it has context beyond the 'resident evil 5' caption. capcoms versions speaks a lot more, you can read into it.

deathspawns version doesn't do this, its only the 'resident evil 5' caption that gives it any context.

as another user pointed out, deathspawn put the female character in the males shadow.. capcom have created a better balance, like they are covering eachother, rather than the male sheilding her like she is defenseless.

Re5 getting a remake is still...gunna be a tough one lol. I do still want that and 6 remade. Well, 6 needs a reimagining more like and I believe the current Capcom can make it into a great game.
