Elden Ring Player Hits Max Playtime

Elden Ring is a highly replayable game that naturally lends itself to long playthroughs, but one fan has gone the extra mile and hit the max playtime.

They shouldn’t known to add an extra digit for this game. 10,000 hours is unlikely for most games, but Elden Ring obviously would’ve been one of the few to warrant the potential for few.

roadkillers1399d ago

This game is massive. I figured I was halfway through the game… 30hrs later and I might be now. This game is incredibly large and haven’t put this many hours into a game since Pokemon Yellow… had to catch them all.

It’s not just filler either, they continue to expand the game, the lore, the enemies, and new abilities. Just hit the group that kills tarnished and I am floored with this game. As a God of War fan, Ragnarok has an uphill battle for GotY.

MasterChief36241399d ago

Whew, I can smell that Kool-Aid you're drinking, right from where I'm sitting.

VerminSC1399d ago

Lol you should probably know, this site has a hate boner over Elden Ring for some weird reason.

Especially when you have the AUDACITY to suggest it could compete with a PlayStation exclusive.

You’re right though, the game is phenomenal, and so will GOWR be.

poppatron1398d ago

It’s almost certainly my game of the year, it’s probs my favourite game of the last few years. I did about 120 hours on my first play through, then only about 10 more for my second and third put together. And when my platinum trophy popped I was super happy and then almost straight away gutted. My wife thinks I went in to mourning afterwards😂😂. I’ve not really played an awful lot since then, just going back over returnal for the platinum on that. I’m one xenoglyph on the final level away from that one. And to be completely off subject here I think that game is fantastic with one of the worst trophy systems I’ve ever experienced. I’ve considered a strongly worded letter to housemarque many times now

"Lol you should probably know, this site has a hate boner over Elden Ring for some weird reason."

Since when?

VerminSC1398d ago

Poppatron

Same. I can’t seem to enjoy other games after beating Elden ring. It was that good. I’ve found that indie games are a good palette cleanser. So I’ve been playing a few indie games.

cluclap1398d ago (Edited 1398d ago )

@xblade I'm trying to figure that out too lmao. Everyone I see on this site practically jizzes on themselves when discussing this game. I played it, and its decent at best. Maybe some of these people need to go play older games like shadow of the colossus, or legacy of kain. Acting like this is the first game to not give you hints or clues on where to go is just so off putting as a gamer for 25+ years.

Dude, there's only been roughly 3288 hours since the game was released and this guy spent over a third of it (because you know he 100% switched to a different account) playing Elden ring.

Even for a streamer, that's just not healthy mate.

XbladeTeddy1398d ago (Edited 1398d ago )

Yeah, not healthy. I did a 2 day marathon the other week on Diablo 2 Resurrected and I found I felt so low mentally after and felt desensitized from reality slightly. It scared me. I had fun playing but I won't be doing that again. Moderation is the key.

My m8 has stage 3 cancer aged 50 and not expected to see the end of 2023 and although he had a good job and seen a fair bit of the world he regrets the 1000s of hours playing on GTA online

jordan22290ps1399d ago

Everyone's different. I don't think there's a need to put a negative connotation on it. For every person like your friend, there's another who just simply enjoys those moments of happiness.

franwex1399d ago

If it took away from important things I get it. But if it was down time, why regret it? Would he have preferred to stream a bunch of shows or movies? Watch a bunch of sports on tv? I don’t regret the hundreds of hours that I’ve pored to games. I have cool memories from them.

anast1399d ago

Using cancer to moralize a point about how you think other people should live their lives and what they may regret...smooth a silk this one is.

roadkillers1398d ago

Well, GTA Online wouldn’t be my choice for 1000 hours. I actually can’t think of a game that would entertain me for 1000. 75 so far into Elden Ring… might do new game+ once I get there, but that’s it. Pokémon Yellow had me at 350hrs when I was 7? So, I don’t think that will be beaten

HyperMoused1399d ago

So will he get a call From Software saying "Dude, you..you need to go outside, get some Vitamin D before you become Tarnished"....or maybe instead of a sword they can send him an Elden Ring clock.

slayernz1399d ago

wow i just platted the game yesterday clock was at 140 hours, level 160ish...had a blast with it.....i only "cheated" with the final boss, struggling to beat him and had a bit of fatigue with that fight so summoned a co-op partner and watched on from distance as they pummeled the boss

VeraTepes1399d ago

You may not like to co op, but if the game provides it, and is a feature in game, it's not cheating.

slayernz1399d ago (Edited 1399d ago )

I don't mind co-op at all, I just felt stink because I literally did nothing except sit and watch this other fella blaze away at the elden beast lol

poppatron1398d ago

I did the whole thing solo, the Elden beast was really easy the first 2 times and then that third time was waaaaaay tougher. But still nowhere near Melania levels. She brutalised me for hours and when I finally beat her it felt like nothing but luck

slayernz1398d ago

i found melania reasonably easy to be honest, had a bleed/scarlet rot build so me and black knife tiche destroyed her on the 2nd or 3rd time - struggled with this build for elden beast so rather than respeccing opted for co-op

franwex1399d ago

On the Xbox one? Lol. I wonder if it’s the VCR, S or X.

The xbone VCR was my main console for years. It’s the worst. Literally.

why is that dumb? It's the same price everywhere else.

repsahj32d ago

Because it's Nintendo. Post negative first before analizing.

LiViNgLeGaCY31d ago

Because this is the ONLY version you can buy on the S2, correct? I don't think you can buy just the game for $60 like the other platforms. And if I'm wrong about this, then I take it back.

LiViNgLeGaCY31d ago

@repsahj - Dude, shut up. I like Nintendo a lot, actually. I just want the option to get the base game for $60 WITHOUT the DLC. I've done plenty of "analyzing".

Neonridr32d ago

Before anyone complains, this is the same price on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. It comes with the Game and the DLC.

Elda32d ago

The game is $40 & the expansion is $40 so the price is right.

VersusDMC32d ago

The standard edition physical should have been 40 then with the expansion seperate. Why normalize 80 dollar games? Specially ports of old games.

If people accept this might as well make physical 80 dollar deluxe versions only.

repsahj32d ago

This $80 version is also available on PS5 and XSX.

VersusDMC31d ago

@repsahj

The ps5 has the standard version and the 80$ version so it gives you the choice...on switch 2 physical you can only buy the 80 dollar version.

I guess since they got the data that less than half of elden ring players beat the game and would probably not buy the DLC, they decided to just not make it an option and charge more...

GotGame81831d ago

Like it or not, the vast majority of game sales are digital. Just like movies, and music. At least Gamekey cards are shareable and you can sell them.
