Strategy Informer: Home Preview

Strategy Informer writes: "It's not really fair reviewing something that's in its beta phase so consider this piece more of a first look rather than a fully considered piece with a score attached. However, I think the tendency of many journalists to rate Home as finished product stems in part from the length of time we've had to wait for it. The anticipation has grown to such an extent that many of us simply can't wait to get our hands on it and try to convey our thought and ruminations on what has been Sony's Great White Hope for many PlayStation fans out there. So let's get down to brass tacks:

The first thing I was struck by was how good it actually looks. The character models almost identical to Second Life but somehow smoother and much better animated. The character modelling screen is well put together and easy to follow. It's simple and is very reminiscent of dressing and customising Microsoft's Avatars application, but with all the options to tweak your face, height and stature that we've come to expect from an EA Sports game – impressive. The only thing that was missing apparently was facial hair however I'm sure you'll all be pleased to know that Sony has patched it in v.1.04 – although I'm told you can't wear a beard and a moustache at the same time, bummer."

I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.

Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
