Who Was Home For Again?

Endsights' Art Green writes:

"Cruising around the Central Plaza, entering the Mall, the Theater, and a few venues, one question continuously came to my mind. Who was Home for?

It won't be for the people that want to join up with friends and launch games, as the functionality isn't there yet. (Warhawk appears to be the only game that supports the feature as of now) But even if the functionality existed for every single game in the PlayStation 3 library, why would I (or anyone for that matter) want to go into this virtual world to do it?"

It was for people that don't feel the need to create flame-bait articles to make money.

Maybe just maybe it will be useful for like minded ps3 owners to chat about games in a forum that is not full of microsoft fanboys harping on about any BS they can dream up about games on a system they don't own.

@ Bell Boy

Spot on, that's another good use for Home. Bubble for you. I just wish Microsoft had something similar that was not full of Sony fanboys harping on about any BS they can dream up about games on a system they don't own.

Again...?

"The main rub is that Home does not have a single core competency—only a lot of untapped potential."

Yep, to which they also asked people on the forums for advice, I swear will anyone writing these negative articles ever think about: A. The forums in which people give feedback, or B. The fact that home is lacking, but then that little B with an E and T, A attached to it signify that nothing is yet in Golden. I'll agree for now Home is lacking, but it's a fun little thing to waste time in with friends.

Home is for the person that likes it. For the person that likes meeting new people to possibly become friends. For the person that has friends to meet up in a virtual world. Home is for the socially adapt, it can be whatever you want it to be. I've always been more of a loner, so Home is not my thing. But you will never see me talking down of it just because it's not for me. Who am I to judge or question what someone else may be into?

You deserve a bubble for logic like that.

I have to agree. Home has nothing for me. Until they fix it so that more than one person can play an arcade game at once, more pool tables, and more bowling alley's (I have only played once and had to leave because someone kept pestering me to give up my spot). I personally have nothing to do in Home so I just wont go in. Nothing really bad to say otherwise.

I can already see too much stupidity on there...Kewl Idea but nothing new here.

If Sony allows you to see all types of Media and such without signing into HOME, buy stuff without walking into a virtual store, then whats the point?

The best thing about HOME is, I guess seeing people walk around and randomly meeting folks...I guess that's the Idea. Nothing wrong with that but to me it has a MIXED purpose on top of XMB.

for me the the game launcher will be the main reason i end up in home because how many times have you tried to create a custom game online only to spend a long time waiting for people on your friends list to respond and never do ?or it might be 3:00 in the morning and none of your friends are online so you just jump in a call of duty game only to be frustrated as hell that your match made team sucks balls.
i like the idea of being able to go into a community to be able to meet people that you can talk to (screen if you will )to party up with for game launches or a place to hang out while you wait for your invites to respond

Game launcher needs to work first for it to be a worthwhile feature.

So, I Finally Played Home

I recently published an article about beating my Steam backlog by getting organised and the first game I’ve completed with this new approach is Home.

I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.

Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
