Diablo Immortal player beats final boss without microtransactions

Diablo Immortal’s microtransactions are not necessarily needed to beat the final boss, as shown by one YouTuber. But there’s a catch.

So from reading the article: Yes you can win with microtranscations but the game is very tedious at best though

Old McGroin1440d ago

I beat the final boss without spending a penny and I'm a pretty casual player, this is a big deal? Wasn't really that difficult if I remember right. Didn't really need to grind much at any point really, just a small while doing bounties to level up but that didn't really take that long.

Lionsguard1439d ago

is this your first Diablo game? Killing bosses aren't a big deal. The end game is where the game actually starts. Rifts, bounties, etc. I don't know how Immortal works but that's where the kerfuffle is, getting legendary gems from end game runs or something. No one actually gives two shits about beating the final boss.

Old McGroin1439d ago (Edited 1439d ago )

@Lionsguard

"No one actually gives two shits about beating the final boss."

Maybe read the article and the comments here before posting something as stupid as that. You're in a comment section for an article specifically about just that lmao. There's a whole article about it and the comments here are saying yeah, just like a normal game but but but it's so hard to do it in Immortals without spending money! So obviously people do give two shits. My point, if you bothered to crack the rock hard code I wrote it in (/s because you probably need that confirmed) is that you don't need to spend a penny to accomplish what the article is blowing up. Christ, can't believe I needed to explain that.

LordoftheCritics1441d ago

Once you beat the final boss, a Diablo game actually begins.

notachance1440d ago

yeah it’s diablo, defeating the final boss is basically finishing the tutorial

-Foxtrot1441d ago

The title comes off like "Wow can you believe this"

Like...yeah this SHOULD be normal

Reminds me of the love and hype games get now when the developer says there won't b any MTs in the game.

SullysCigar1440d ago

Just the fact that this was even considered worth writing about demonstrates the absurdity of the situation.

They butchered Diablo and turned the model into a cash cow that fans never wanted.

NotoriousWhiz1440d ago (Edited 1440d ago )

It's a F2P game. If it's not your thing, don't play it. I don't plan on touching it at all. I like most of Nintendo's games but I haven't touched a single one of their mobile titles and have no intention of doing so. No need to drag them through the mud for trying something different. (There are other reasons to drag them through the mud, but this ain't it)

The_Hooligan1440d ago

Activision: "How is it possible to beat this game without MTs? This is preposterous. We need to work on an update immediately to course correct so that there is no way people can beat the final boss without grinding for 1000s of hours."

I agree with you and Foxtrot. It is really sad that we are actually celebrating a person beating the game without spending any money.

Sure it is free to play but it ends up being pay to win or pay to beat. And I blame players as much as the company because those who pay to win are the ones driving these kind of practices in the game industry. I am all for free to play games as long as it is also free to win where spending money does not give anyone ANY kind of advantage in the game.

I have been playing Overwatch with my friends since the beginning and I have not spent a dime on loot boxes because if I pay a full price for the game, I am not spending anything on cosmetics because everything should be unlockable by just playing the game and making in-game currency not feel like a chore. Now Overwatch 2 is free to play and from what I can see the only thing you can spend money on are cosmetics. That being said, I will support any developer by buying something in game if I think they have done a great job with a free to play game and the core gameplay is fair where no one has an advantage because they bought something. Again this is what I do and not saying it is right or wrong but you should always vote with your wallet.

SullysCigar1440d ago

^ no, you're right @NotoriousWhiz, we should just be quiet and hope they don't take our silence as acceptance. Then they totally won't bring this crap to future games. / s

Clearly I'm skipping this. I have no intention of supporting this kind of thing, especially if it's at the expense of an IP I've enjoyed in the past.

NotoriousWhiz1439d ago

If no one's playing it, that's all the message they need. The rest is just noise.

SullysCigar1439d ago

^ @NotoriousWhiz, there is zero substance to your comment. You just don't want people to talk about this. I'm afraid that's not your call.

More people need to stop burying their heads in the sand, hoping for change.

Speak out.

NotoriousWhiz1438d ago

Personally, I don't care what people talk about, but the idea that a developer has to make the game you want them to make doesn't sit well with me. No one can speak for everyone. If the fans don't want it, then they won't play it, and it won't be made again.

"Someone actually finished a game by their own skill"

You mean like what happens with every game ever, the fact that Diablo have reached this point is just sad

NotoriousWhiz1440d ago

Most games can't be finished without spending money (to play it in the first place).

the nerve of that player!

Blizzard Wants Faster Diablo Releases and More Expansions

Blizzard reveals plans to speed up Diablo releases with more frequent expansions and updates as the franchise moves toward a live-service future.

QuantumMechanic92d ago

All I want is a physical disc release of remastered D2 that doesn't require online check-ins.

VonAlbrecht92d ago

Ah, more and fast - the antithesis of careful and good

Christopher92d ago (Edited 92d ago )

I've lost complete interest. Too much FOMO with seasons as it is, now it's expansions? No thanks.

Michiel198992d ago

what fomo? everything gets reset each season and you start new characters unless you're playing on the regular servers and then you're already maxxed anway and just need to participate in the new season stuff.

Michiel198992d ago

i played only during launch and i found the ones in that battlepass to be absolute dogwater, the only ones that looked somewhat cool were the paid ones in the store and i wont bother with either. The game itself was just so hollow, there were no cool builds cause every synergy was just "x or y skills does more dmg or has this extra effect" almost no experimentation needed, couldnt give a rats ass about armor if the core of the game is boring af.

Diablo Immortal is still a thing? Ewww

What an out of season April's Fools joke

Christopher337d ago

It's quite popular on mobile since there isn't a lot of competition for games of its type that aren't even less engaging and just 'stare at your phone' games. Not to say Immortal is good, but for mobile, it's better than most.

This game is bad. It's a gross whale fest. AI can write and design a game like this.
