Criterion games have just posted a listing for a possible Black sequel known as Black: Second Mission.
The cancelled sequel to Criterion Games' hit 2006 shooter Black for Xbox 360 and PS3 has been revealed by Unseen64 in their latest post. The game went through a tumultuous pre-production before being cancelled by EA over a creative disagreement with the developers.
Black was sweet. Just gun porn. Back then I loved to crank the volume when ppl weren't in the house and just shake the walls with shots and explosions. Was really fun. These shots for Black 2.... Well, maybe it's a good thing they let it die.

I could've sworn I played a game called Black on PS2 many years ago, and I was looking forward to the sequal.
You did; it was a mix of a stealthy, shooty, x-files type of game which was a little bit of wet-work and a touch of conspiracy and the feel of you being behind the scenes of a black op.
It was very well done.
Looks a LOT like Boodycount. Hey, I played and loved that game. Guess im in the minority. I wasn't a fan of Black though.
Bodycount was made by the same team and was supposed to be a spiritual successor to Black, but most people felt it wasn't a worthy successor.
Didn't really care for Bodycount, however I did play through it and finish only because the trophies kept popping!
If that was concept art then I'm glad it was canceled... I loved Black but that looks nothing like it, and a coop shooter? come on.
Criterion has released two images of unreleased shooter Black 2.
The shots, released by the studio's creative director Alex Ward, were taken from Criterion's previously unseen "TargetX" video - presumably created to aid the cancelled game's development process.
kickstart BLACK2 and i will fund the shit outta it. i love BLACK on of my fav shooters on PS2 top dog will always be Timesplitters future perfect.
Agreed, I know I've played it many of times when I still had the ps3's older brother, I honestly thought the game looked ps3 material at times. I'd drop so $$$ on that...

I still throw Black in for a great nostalgia ride.... I loved Timesplitters 2, the split screen multi was great fun, Future Perfect no slouch either, thats why I was pretty bummed Haze never panned out, I figured ex-Free Radical guys , going to be good.... oh well...here's to hoping a new TimeSplitters will come next gen....
if they are dead set on "not making another BLACK video game" at least re release it in HD on PStore and XboxLive. for 10 or 15 i dont care ill still get it! haha also still waiting on a PS2 classic for Timsplitters collection.

Black was one of those special games that stood out from the rest. It was truly a generation ahead for it's time.

They're not doing another racing game next, so if it's not Black 2 I hope it's something other than a shooter. Their sense of speed is second to none, so maybe they could help DICE out with Mirror's Edge?

I'm betting this game from Criterion will rival Killzone 2 and Crysis in the graphics department.Criterion have made some of the best engines of all time especially Renderware.Hopefully they use a new cutting edge engine like CRYengine2 and not anything like Unreal Engine.
