Pretty excited for this game! Should fill in the gap as we wait for ES6.

I get a hexen / heretic vibe when I see this game.

Crows901494d ago

How often do you see this game? Isn't it from pillars of eternity?

RaidenBlack1494d ago

A first person RPG that's different from Elders Scrolls set in Pillars of Eternity universe. ~ is what I have managed to gather till now.

darthv721494d ago (Edited 1494d ago )

sorry Crows, I haven't played that game. But I have played lots of hexen / heretic back in the day.

I'm of the opinion that Bethesda is lucky they're owned by Microsoft because obsidian was probably working to take the crown from their elder scrolls series with avowed.

Also if you can't tell by my opinion up above I'm looking forward to avowed on pc

Honestly im not impressed with the output of either dev lately. Outer Worlds was polished but i found it very unengaging. Fallout 76 and Fallout 4 (Bethesdas most recent games) barely feel like RPGs at all to me.

I’ll be pleased if either Avowed or ES6 actually feel like a generational leap over games like New Vegas and Skyrim.

Outer Worlds was pretty dope; but, to each their own.

RaidenBlack1494d ago (Edited 1494d ago )

True ... Obsidian (even though being very talented) was struggling with the identity part.
They're ex-Black Isle Studios, the team behind OG Fallout, Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment. And is also the publisher/collaborator of BioWare's Baldur's Gate. Hence BlackIsle being one of my fav. studios from 90s.
Their RPG skills are top notch and their games reflect that but although they have created original intellectual property(comparatively smaller scale), many of their games are sequels based on licensed properties.
Hence bigger-budget original IPs starting with Outer Worlds was a much needed step. And actually them getting acquired by Xbox was actually a positive thing for this talented but underrated studio. Now Obsidian can showcase what they can do with proper financial backing and new IPs.

Unreal Engine 5 means no more last gen so I hope every game uses it now.

UE5 does actually build and run on last gen…

JEECE1494d ago

Sigh sigh sigh sigh. Of course you're still advocating for games being gimped for 2013 CPUs. Okay, yes obviously you can port an old or basic game to U5 and it will still run on the ancient systems.

*Unreal Engine 5 when the devs actually take advantage of the engine's features means no more last gen.

Happy with that correction? Or do we need more ruinous cross-gen?

Orchard1494d ago

I'm not actually advocating for that at all. I was just pointing out that a title being UE5 doesn't mean it wont come to last gen. Nothing more, nothing less.

I do look forward to when we see 'proper' UE5 titles though. The engine looks phenomenal, miles ahead of anything else out there today.

That would be so boring and dull

Obscure_Observer1494d ago

Can´t wait for June when we´ll finally get release dates, trailers, gameplay and further details on many of Xbox first party games.

Avowed PS5 Review | Obsidian's Most Ambitious RPG | Spawning Point

Avowed arrives on PS5 after a year of post-launch refinement and it shows. Obsidian's writing delivers a richly layered mystery with companions who challenge rather than echo the player. Dual-wielding combat offers genuine flexibility across melee, ranged, and magical archetypes. Twenty to forty hours of filler-free content. PS5 players are getting the best version of a very good RPG.
