Sony Is Showing PSVR 2 To Developers At GDC

It doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a full PSVR 2 reveal at GDC 2022 this week, but Sony is definitely showing the new headset to developers.

Devs are blown away by what theyve been seeing apparently.

Can't wait to pre-order. Screw leaving it up to chance with scalpers, although, maybe VR headsets might not as in demand as the console, still.

Andrew3361528d ago

It won't matter the demand at first lol. They'll all be bought to be resold

Neonridr1528d ago

it doesn't matter, it will be an in-demand item. So scalpers will jump at the opportunity to resell at double the price.

I got my PS5 in the very first release, so I think it is possible to get your PSVR2 as well.

I wish Sony could somehow do member first pre-orders for existing playstation account holders or PS+ subscribers. Make that a prerequisite to be able to pre-order for the first few months in order to fill orders for actual gamers and not bots. This would mitigate most scalping, but I’m sure there’s more logistics that go into that decision, like shipping costs etc…

Cant wait for the psvr2 this must be the vr experience worth buying. The possibilities are exiting. Now we have the gear and powerfull console with triple A devs supporting it.

Eonjay1528d ago

Basically everyone loves it. The thing that's blowing them away seems to be the haptics though. Apparently it can be transformative for VR

Neonridr1528d ago

absolutely. We see some of it already with the Valve Index and the Knuckle controllers. The haptics can provide force back when you squeeze things in your hand. Really adds a level of immersion. So excited to see what we will be getting with Sony's new headset and controllers.

Eonjay1528d ago

Exactly, and the headset just adds to that. Imagine you are playing a racing game and you are driving an F1 car with the exposed roof. Now imagine you drive under a set of overhead arches. When you pass each arch you get subtle feedback from the headset akin to the realistic pressure you would feel in real life. That is an enormous value add as far as immersion is consired. It is absoultely amazing to be here are watch VR evolve like this.

Neonridr1528d ago

@Eonjay - we've come a long way since the original Virtuality cabinets. I remember thinking my neck was going to break wearing one of those LOL.

You bring up some great ideas into haptics in the headset that I wasn't even thinking of. It's an exciting time for sure.
