It's been exactly a year since Activision last said anything about its game based on Michael Bay's upcoming robot movie, Transformers -- and even then, explicit information about the title was closely guarded (specific consoles hadn't been named; the developers weren't identified, etc). But after 52 weeks of nothing, IGN's contacts at Activision have finally come clean and given a couple of details.
Officially known as Transformers: The Game, the Traveller's Tales-developed actioner is scheduled for just about every platform out there (PC, PS2, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360) and will come out this summer with nearly identical content. Its storyline will follow the movie closely, giving players control over both the Autobots and the Decepticons as they choose to either protect the earth or pimp slap it...
With the recent successes of Xbox's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, even Hasbro wants to see the classic Transformers games come to Game Pass.
C'mon MS find those games on whatever hard drive they're hidden on.
There's a few transformers games from Activision I missed out or didn't finish. Would love to come back to them at some point if they appear on GP.

Does Activision still have the rights? I thought they lost them, and that was why the Cybertron games left stores.

I thought so too, but these quotes come directly from the Hasbro panel. It seems Hasbro is willing and able to work with them again. At least in a retro capacity.

This is correct. I dunno if MS can/ would go back to Hasbro and try and negotiate a new deal.
But even if they could I doubt they would, same with Spider-Man.

suck very much so. Sad, but very true. I doubt this game will even be as much fun as SuperMan The Movie The Game... or whatever it ended up being called.
the movie. the movie is gunna kick @$$. it looks freaking amazing.
this game will suck big time! First off..as soon as I saw the title..Transformers: The Game it screamed suckage. Secondly when I saw they were developing this for the Wii and PS2 along with PC, PS3 and 360 I knew visually and technically this game is going to be watered down for those two systems and all the PC, PS3 and 360 will see are some pumped up visuals...
Too bad....could have been great in the right hands.
I am totally pumped for the movie and as far as the game goes whatever happened to people seeing gameplay or even getting there hands on the game before saying if its a smash or trash?
Unfortunately both the movie and the game will probably be terrible. Bumble Bee is now a Camaro instead of a VW Beetle, Megatron is an alien spaceship, and Optimus Prime has g@y ass flames. The only good thing the movie has going for it right now is that they have Peter Cullen doing the voice of Optimus Prime. I have high hopes for both, but I'm sure they'll just be a huge letdown.
