Shadow Warrior 3: A great game let down by frustrating technical issues

Digital Foundry - Nine years on from Flying Wild Hog Studios' first reboot of the Shadow Warrior franchise, it's all change with the third series entry. Protagonist Lo Wang's voice is different, the gameplay itself has evolved and crucially - from a Digital Foundry perspective, at least - the engine technology powering the experience has moved on.

Surprised there isnt a ps5 version considering its over a year that ps5 been out and this game just came out. At this point every game that comes out should.

MeatyUrologist1535d ago

Yep just one of about 10 frustrating decisions the developers made with this one. Could've been great but instead it is poor all around.

JEECE1535d ago

Yep, when devs rely on the "well it's on PS4 and therefore can be played on PS5" this far into the generation, it's not a good sign.

This Steam Deck-compatible trilogy is now more than $100 off, perfect for fans of action-packed FPS

The Shadow Warrior trilogy is currently listed with a 93% discount on Steam, and you can save more than $100 - ideal for your Steam Deck?

anast700d ago

It's rated as "playable"...it will look jank and probably run like it too.

ZycoFox700d ago

Well if it's not good enough for you then just play it on a decent PC.

@GhostMirror

Yeah same here. Lots of unsuported indie horror games that end up being fully playble with standard controls and no issues whatsoever.

Thus far, most unsupported games run fine on Steamdeck but I have run on some issues with some lesser known games as well (do not boot at all despite trying various proton versions) but again those were mostly indie horror games.

Playable games almost always play well and have minimal if any issues so I am not sure what Anast is trying to point out here.

I have shadow warrior 2 and am playing it on deck right now. Runs really well and looks good too.

DaMist700d ago

The "playable" label can be something as simple as needing a mouse click on a menu cause controlelrs don't work lol its crazy how many automatically claim a game will run like shit just cause of that label, same with those unverified. take helldivers 2, its unverified on steam because of the mp, not because the game itself doesnt work. just something to keep in mind.

I wasn't really impressed with the second game, hopefully the third one is better.

Shadow Warrior 3 Xbox One Review | NoobFeed

Azfar Rayan from NoobFeed writes - Shadow Warrior 3 felt like a significant step down from the excellent Shadow Warrior 2, and it's a tremendous disappointment and a squandered chance to improve the franchise.

2 was incredible but for some reason people didn't like it. I never understood why. 3 is the result of useless "fan feedback" from people that didn't like 2 which makes no sense cuz it was better than the first game.

3 is really good, 2 is better. Not having new game plus in 3 is absolutely terrible though.
