this is such a SCAM....releasing an expensive map pac so soon after the game comes out...

I was really into Gears 1 multi with my friends. However, we have barely played Gears 2 together. There is a truth to that fact it seems broken in certain ways. Then charging for more maps right off the bat just doesn't sit well.

Fix the multiplayer then roll-out the map packs. I doesn't take a genius to realize why there would be a back lash.

Just played CoD-WoW for the first time last night, and that game is crazy fun. While I think gears was a great game, I don't see myself spending 800 points on maps that i will not get that much out of. I mean I am already broke as far as MS points go from the Fable 2 content

Why did this game get "rave reviews and huge sales" anyway? I speculate that the later came from hype and dozens of thousands of adds everywhere including 30,000 launch parties. But rave reviews why? Perhaps for the same reason and not reviewers actually doing their job of criticizing the broken multiplayer, and the short and patronizing campaign?

If no one was to really buy them, thats when something would be done, but until that day ( What Will Never Come) you wont see anything happenning

people just like to complain. now when gears 2 first came out yeah i was unhappy because it took me on average over 7 minutes to get into a multiplayer game, after the patch a few weeks ago it takes around 30seconds which i don't have a problem with. as for the maps, they are pretty good and alot of fun, i will play them enough to get the value out of them (not to mention the fact they are not free keeps alot of the rude pre-teens off of them and only some of the better more serious gamers are in them).
I can't even order pizza for $10 and that only lasts a few hours before it becomes property of the city sewer system so $10 for 3 maps that have less rude people looking for attention playing, well worth the money, i mean come on it is only $10 and i will play those maps for hours and hours and have fun. so when i am done lets say i play those maps for 20hrs that works out to $.50/hr there isn't anything you can do to have fun for $.50 an hour, at least not in the US ;-)

I got Gears for a bargain £29.99 so an extra £5 for maps doesnt even take this game to the £39.99 that new games usually cost.

...That's a lot of money.

Why did they mention LittleBigPlanet's problems with this story? They don't seem the same at all. It looks like the problem in Gears 2 is the multiplayer has major cheating issues. LittleBigPlanet just had some server problems. Big difference.

Why can't companies do what Criterion is doing with Burnout Paradise and release a few free updates that add features and improve their game? You shouldn't have to pay for anything like new maps in the first few months.

I got Gears 2 for £30 but I'm not going to get the map pack as I just don't want to pay for it. The MP is mostly fine, the only problem is that when some guy comes running at you with the chainsaw and the shotgun doesn't have that much stopping power which is annoying. Other than that, the MP in Gears 2 is more fun and better balanced than Gears 1 ever was.

How did this game get so many perfect ratings? R2 should have got more love. Now that's multiplayer.

I was sick when I head about GTA, RE4, DMCry, and TEKKEN! When people cry, bad thing happen. Ps3 dropped BC and Card slots because people were mad about the price. (Although Sony is doing better, they handcuffed themselves to try and satisfy people who probably didn't even buy a ps3 OR 360!) If Epic goes "timed-exclusive" and hands Gears to Sony on a silver platter...YOU WILL BE SICK! Look what Bungie is doing now. They felt under appreciated and under paid...so they are gonna go multi-plat. (If you don't think that will hurt MS, your wrong!)

People are still moaning about broken MP? I don't know how many times I must reiterate this but the Matchmaking has been fixed and is much much much quicker to get into a match. I have been playing like 5 nights in a row because I can actually play a whole bunch without waiting. Secondly, it's not "broken" because someone's personal opinion doesn't like it. Yes the chainsaw is ridiculous, yes the shotgun now seems to be a long range weapon (lmao) and smoke grenades are grossly overpowered but seriously I run into the issues only maybe 1 out of every 3-5 matches, so while annoying, it's not the biggest deal. Spawn camping? Yes that is annoying, people plant grenades which is very unfair. But once again, that's happened to me like maybe in 5-10 matches out of all the matches I have played. It's more a testament to how F'ing lame the players are, their lack of overall skill and the fact they're cheating. It's ok people report those idiots every game. So I'm not saying some of the issues are ok, but they are not as widely reported as you think.

edit: Guess I should also throw in the fact that you can't pick maps, gameplay types etc...while I agree that is really frustrating, I play more game modes now than I ever did in Gears 1 where I only played Warzone.

Am I with anyone else in saying that I am not buying any map pack for this game until they fix the damn multiplayer.
After being a huge fan of the first one, the multiplayer this time round is a major let down.

I play Gears 2 multiplayer every night with no problems at all. So do most of the gamers on my Friends List. All three of the new maps are great for playing Horde. I've already got several hours in on each.

I do play a lot of COD:WoW because it's a great game as well. But Gears is simply more viscerally satisfying and fun for my tastes. As great as the origianl Gears was, Gears 2 is so much better!

In any case, it's all subjective: play----or don't play. It's your decision and no one elses.

I love how they say some consider the multi player broken. NO if you are playing multi player and its no horde mode IT IS BROKEN. The game has no balance and it seems Epic doesn't care at all about fixing as we have yet to hear anything and we would have heard something if they even intended to fix it.

1 and 2 for sure 3 was ok Dom's death felt rushed to me. Judgement was meh 4 was ok and 5 I thought was boring.

4 & 5 had some bullshit practice’s for MP characters and skins.
Judgement was very casual.
2 had the best maps and good gameplay if it wasn’t laggy.
3 had okay maps (too open) but the gameplay was the best.
1 was solid all around.

Judgement has the weakest campaign and multiplayer. Gears 5 would probably be ranked lower if it’s multiplayer didn’t mature well. The game improved significantly in terms of progression and content from launch overtime. While, Gears of War 1 was the most influential title of the series it hasn’t aged as well as it successors.
Gears of War 2 is number one for me due to its plot, introduction of horde and personal nostalgia, despite 3 being objectively better, in my opinion.

I Haven’t not played the spin-off titles, as they belong to genres that don’t interest me.

As an aside: I waiting for my EARNABLE or FREE COG still Spartans to be added to Halo Infinite. Spartans Emile and Kait were in Gears 5 mp, so 343i should reciprocate the Coalitions cross-over.

1,2,3,5,4 and Judgement for me. The first game is hard to beat imo.

Based only on the campaign. 2 was almost perfect; 1 (as a start for the franchise) was amazing too. 3 had some issues, but mostly very enjoyable. Judgement tried to move some stuff around but mostly stayed with the same crew and very basic story. 5 and 4 (campaign-vise) were pretty bad, didn't feel like they were important for the Sera as a whole (maybe that's how it felt to me).

Gears of War 1 is one of the coolest games ever made. A really unique blend of shooter and horror. The art direction was stunning, the music was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was really special. It also looked incredible back in 2006.

This series need a god of war style reboot, the cover and shoot mechanic is old news now they gotta do something to mix it up again.

Other wise its lterally 7 games of the same thing with minimal additions to the gameplay

Now that I finally own an XB one day I'll try the Gear games on Gamepass.

The first 3 are the only good ones in my opinion with the original Xbox 360 Gears 1 was the best online. The rest where not good imo.

Gears 1 was the best hands down. Dark and gritty from beginning to end. Gears 2 was an incredible sequel that ranks close to the first imo. Don’t think they will ever recapture the magic of the first two games. The emphasis has shifted and propably won’t go back.

I have all 5 mainline games from sales on the Xbox store... I need to play them one of these days

Gears and Halo 3 made me pick up a 360 immediately after playing at a friend's house. Great times there. Gears was something new and different from everything else

Game series is ugly art wise, plays super clunky and is just lame. I hate gears.

I remember booting Gears 1 on day 1 back in 2006 and my girlfriend at the time said “how could games look any better from here.”

Not only was Gears 1 special for its visuals, but the gameplay felt so fresh and innovative. What a time.

360 era gears doesn't miss, amazing games. One era, ain't a big deal, really not missing much with it
