8 is a good score

Someone always needs to be a contrarian, which is a shame. Speaks volumes about how good ER is going to be that an 8 score is actually annoying me 😅

Hey, 8 is a good score. I have loved many a games that were rated 8’s and some 7.5 and lower lol. It happens.

I remember when someone who reviewed Uncharted 2 back in the day gave the game a 9.5 outta 10. There reasoning for not giving it a 10/10 was because they had one issue with the game while they played, which in their description wasn’t game breaking/immersion breaking, it was more of a nitpick he said. I can’t remember what it was to be honest with you. But when they gave the score at the end of the review I scratched my head thinking “Ok, I know no game is perfect (some bugs and whatnot) what he described, along with basically all other reviewers was a game that is a masterpiece, ahead of its time, the GENERATIONAL LEAP in graphics and gameplay that so so many others have praised and expressed with undeniable glee. How is that nitpick such an issue that it bumps the game 5 points down to a 9.5? It just didn’t make sense to me. Their balance in the review just seemed to be on the money of a 10/10. But, oh well haha. I didn’t lose any sleep, thought the game was mind blowing, greatest game I’d ever played at the time, and remained the best game I had ever played until The Last of Us arrived in 2013. and the game is still to this day one of my absolute all time favorites!

Some reviewers opinions won’t align with ours, which is ok, we haven’t played the game yet. I remember when Uncharted 3 released and how much praise IGN’s at the time, Greg Miller, was by the game. Saying it was better than Uncharted 2. I disagree with him to this day still, and don’t agree with the points he made. But watching the review, I remember being in awe of it and thinking “Yes, it’s going to be better than 2 (as other reviewers had said too) not all. Oh how disappointed I was in that game. But I guess my point is I don’t always trust every 10 that’s given out either. I guess I’ve learned after that experience (while being excited/hyped) is to keep my expectations in check and realistic to some level, because some expect more from this upcoming game than I am, and some are expecting less from it. Find that resting place of “It’s gonna be good or great” although with a ND or Rockstar game I usually can’t contain myself and know it’ll be beyond that, a bit hypocritical, I admit. We can form an opinion of what we’ve seen of certain games so far, but they’ve actually played it for themselves. And many (as today have shown) with the reviews going live, have absolutely loved this amazing game that Elden Ring is. I don’t trust everyone with reviews nowadays, because of how a few toss in their “I got offended at this” etc into the game and so on. But regardless, the games score of an 8 here is no biggie. Some people giving low scores certainly do it to get clicks to the site (which is pathetic) but such is how people can be, sadly.
